Are the smog tubes in the exhaust manifold supposed to be ceramic coated or do mine just have buildup on them? I am asking because I want to blast it and need to know if I should protect them. TIA John

I just had my MSA 3-2 ceramic coated header and MSA aluminized exhaust installed. I couldn't be happier with it's fit and performance. I had my local mechanic install it for me ($125 including parts) and he ran into absolutely zero problems. I highly recommend this setup to anyone in the market for a new exhaust system.

Since my last thread was such a success (JDM Muffler) I decided to make another one to help me and possibly others out. I am looking for confirmation on which JDM headers will fit and clear our steering racks (LHD). The two that come into mind are the Fujitsubo SUPER-EX header and the TRUST header. Any information and pics is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

I have a pacesetter header with a flange that is thinner than that of the intakes (SU's). I have seen stagered compression washers on other vehicles, but what are you folks using to make the header work with the intake? A solution would be to mill down the intake side, but that becomes a one way street in the event of reverting back. Any suggestions or what has worked for you? Thanks, Leonard

Just curious if anyone has done this. I have a friend who owns a coating company and seggested that while I have the head off being rebuilt I give him the exhaust manifold and down pipe to ceramic coat. I have done this on other vehicles and it really kept the heat in check but havent seen any Z's with this done. No performance mods just stock 71 240 with a L24 and E31 head. This will be a daily driver for my doughter and mostly looking for dependability. Also the price is right Eric

I can't find the diameter of the twice pipes. Even on the MSA site that isn't listed. I am going to get exhaust work done shortly for "Manny" (L28, 6 into 2 header) and am running dual pipes. Any reason to not use 2 1/2 pipe all the way back? My old set of twice pipes were quite small, less than 2 inch I think even. Backpressure issues? Thanks! Leonard

I am doing a complete restoration on a 1971.5 Datsun 240Z I would like to replace the complete exhaust from the factory exhaust manifold back. I want the system to be as close to the factory system as I can get, using the same exhaust hangers that came from the factory. Any ideas were to get the system.

I've been toying with the idea of side pipes / side exhaust on my '76 280z... having trouble imagining it, anyone see it done before? I'm thinking Shelby Cobra only subtler.. don't want it too gaudy and showy Thoughts?

I see lots of posts regarding exhausts / cabin fumes, but no real consensus on how far the exhaust tip should extend from under the car. the 3 possibilities are: a) Stop short of the rear bumper Flush with the rear bumper c) Extend past the rear bumper I am redoing my exhaust system at current - the Flowmaster I had installed two years ago was so boomy that I grew tired of it and had a turbo muffler installed. I have a chrome tip (angle cut) picked out for it, but would like to ensure I have it welded on at the optimum length to not aggravate cabin fume problems while I have the opportunity. Thoughts anyone?
