So I had a few of the guys looking over parts of the 240 tonight. One of them asked about the allen bolts that are in the stock exhaust manifold. One hole with a plug in each port. Whats the deal with them? The only thing we could think is they are ports for a temp unit used at the factory for tuning. Just one of those things that I would like too answer for them. :stupid:

I am installing headers, 3 into 2's on my 1974 260z. There are some differences such as the headers do not have the 6 tubes that extend into the exhaust ports, from reading some other treads I think these are the smog tubes. On my original manifold these were cut and welded shut So I assume this means there is no problem with not having the tubes on the headers as I guess the smog is disconnected. Is this correct. The other difference is the original manifold has the tube for the exhaust gas to recycle -the headers do not. What do I do about this. Any suggestions Thanks zdude1967

I currently have a 71 Zed with an MSA 6-2-1 Header that has been jet hot coated. The previous owner decided it needed a 3" pipe all the way back to the no name muffler. I have long known that I have no intention on spending life upwards of 6500 rpm very long and would like a tuned exhaust with a smaller diameter pipe (2.5" all the way back, or even twice pipes) I have read many many threads on exhausts here, but since this is my first Z, I have noob kind of question. Can I replace my header with a new one without taking off the carbs. From the look of the gasket, its all one piece and would think I would need to replace the entire gasket if I chose to just replace th…

OK, I have the 2.5 MSA exhaust but bought have a vintage ANSA rear muffler. I'd like to use that one but the inlet is 2 inch. Motor has headers, bigger air flow meter but otherwise stock. Going down from 2.5 to 2 inch- is that big deal?

Has anyone seen exhaust tips that look like air horns? I've seen a few "TUNER" mufflers aka fart cans with a little bit of the same flare on the end, but I like the sound of my turbo muffler quite fine. I do however like the look and I'm thinking it might add a little attitude to my newly MUFFLED system. Any thoughts?

Well about 20 min ago I purchased the Motorsport Auto 3 into 2 Aerospace Coated Headers and Twice Pipes Exhaust. They're $300 and $155 respectively, and with basic shipping the total came to $480. This doesn't include the member discount, but that gets applied manually by them when the order is shipped. I've been looking into getting twice pipes for awhile now, and decided that it'd be a crime to do so without getting headers as well. From what I've read here and verified elsewhere, as a general rule the 6 into 1 headers are best for top end power whereas the 3 into 2 do more for middle band power. I don't plan on tracking my car anytime soon, so the 6 into 1 wouldn't be …

Can the exhaust flanges on the stock cast iron exhaust manifold be shaved to remove imperfections in the surface? Best, Bob

What should I know about 3 to 2 header/twice pipes installation? Would I be better off taking this setup to my muffler guy, or doing this myself. I don't want to take on something that has been known to be a b*tch, and get stuck or caught up in a long drawn out exhaust overhaul. Thanks guys!

Long story kept short I got a 76 had no exhaust I got a excellent condition original resonator and muffler off of a 2+2 but need to get a new pipe bent and I need help with clearences so I don't get pipe bent wrong. It looks like the 2+2 pipe is the same but too long in some places. One question is how far behind the crossmember that goes behind the diff should the pipe be? That is right where it bends up. If you can help that would be great or if anybody could e-mail me with pics of a stock exhaust to show clearaces mainly from Muffler to Resonator. Thanks Jim

Sup guys! I'm looking to buy some headers for my Z! Which of the main ones available fits the best? Also looking for an exhaust/muffler advice...I'm looking for a system that won't be too obtrusive at highway cruising, but still is free flowing enough for performance gains...2.25" piping from the header back seems a good compromise, 2.5" seems like it might cause a bit too much resonance...your opinions please :classic:
