Alright I dropped the coin on headers and a new exhaust, now I'm looking at air horns and filters. Any comments on the MSA air horns, or am I better off not even buying them? (hundred bucks is a hundred bucks!) And to the filters, are the K&Ns that much better than the Longflos from Black Dragon? Thanks in advance for encouraging my shopping!

Hey, I just finished redoing my head. If you recall a while ago, I was complaining about exhaust fumes in the cabin. I had replaced all seals and made sure that the cabin was completely tight. I had pretty much settled on the fact that I was going to smell like exhaust all the time. I started working on the motor, making sure that it was in good shape and I had a startling discovery. The PSI on 2 of my cylinders were non existent. It seems that every time the number 3 cylinder compressed it leaked into the number 4 and vice versa. I checked out the plugs and there was no residue on those 2 plugs. The other 4 were getting fouled and it seemed to be running really …

I recently made some new recordings of my cars's exhaust because the one in my video sounds like total crap. I made 3 different different recodings: One from about 15 feet behind the car, one beside the car on the drivers side, and one from inside the car. I think they came out pretty good considering the equiptment i was using. I posted them on Putfile if anyone is interested in hearing them. Near the end of the recording on the inside, I roll down the window so you can hear with the window up and down. Let me know what you think. From behind the car. From beside the car. From inside the car.

I was looking at MSA and debating on the Motorsport header or the 3 into 2 with the turbo exhaust. Opinions from the wise ones either way are greatly appreciated. Any real advantages on one header over the other?

Hey everyone. I put on my header as seen in the thread "Installing Header As We Speak!!" and I took it to a muffler shop to have the rest done. Well, the pipe hung too low, and the muffler hit the underside of the rear valence, causing an occational buzzing. This did not please me. Not to mention the U-bolt holding the muffler on was defective, causing a huge exhaust leak. I attempted to fix the problems myself, and ended up making it worse. So I brought it to different shop today. The guy seemed nice at first, but then started to get progressively more aggitated as I told him what I wanted. He even threatened me saying he wouldn't do the work if I kept talking to him. …

Anyone tried one of these for a resonator and pipe?: http://maremont.com/smartlink/exhaustspec.aspx?partnum=251005 I know it's only 1 11/16" but for a stock setup the price seems good at about $100 from carparts.com or partsamerica.com -Trevor

I like the period look of the Jag dual muffler system, but not at that price, and the tube diameter is too big. Instead, what would the feasibility & practicality be to use two glasspacks with a sort of Y-pipe as the mufflers? The only limiting factor I can think of is the length of the glasspacks, but my exhaust has about 28 inches for the can, and another 8 or 10 inches for the tailpipes. I think a connecting strap would be needed to attach a hangar hook, and just clamp the whole mess on to see how it sounds and if the engine likes it. If so, remove, blast clean & coat with something. opinions? thx

Are the old Hooker Super Comp headers something special in any way? Or is the explanation for this just dumb bidders? :stupid: :stupid: :stupid: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200110008214

I have holes in my down pipe (section between the exhaust manifold and and the catalytic converter) have been trying to find a down pipe for over a month with no luck. I prefer to just replace the down pipe but if they are not available I will consider an aftermarket header kit. Question #1 - Does anyone know where I can get a down pipe...new is preferable but I will consider a used one. Question #2 - If I go with an aftermarket header kit, do I have to remove the intake manifold and all the goodies that go with it or can I remove the exhaust manifold from underneath and not disturb the intake system??

I just had my garage install the MSA turbo muffler on my 78 280. Although it doesn't have the headers yet, and the catlyctic convertor is still on, the muffler sounds great. However I will sometimes hear a vibrating sound....Almost like a slight rattle. I checked their work and everything seems fine. I called up my trusted mecahnic (great guy) and he told me that this was a normal sound for the MSA muffler due to its "tinny" nature. However, he said in time that sound should go away. I'm not sure what is going on, but I sure hope that it does go away. I'm not sure if it is a resonance due to the construction of the muffler, or it IS rattling. Any thoughts?
