I need to replace the header pipe that fits between the exhaust manifold and the catalytic converter on my 78 280Z. I ordered a Bosal pipe from Autoparts Warehouse but they canceled because of no stock. Does anyone know where I can purchase a stock pipe with flanges and no cutting and welding required?

I am asking members for help on finding a new header pipe in another thread. This thread is asking for help on getting the old pipe off......namely how to get the nuts off the exhaust manifold. I read the "siezed header nut - help" thread by Arvin_a. I asked my local parts store for advice and they recommended a spray that freezes teh area instead of heating it up. Has anyone used the freeze approach?

I'm getting close to having to pick out an exhaust system for my 240z and would like to hear some real life examples. I know what I want it to sound like but have no idea how to make it happen. I have read several existing threads and even listened to the sound files I've found, but I'd like to take advantage of the real life rumble. If any of yall will be attending the West Coast Z Car Show on April 28th or 29th, 2007 please contact me via this thread or PM. My Z has what I expect is a stock ('75-'78) 280z N/A motor with SU's and a new MSA 3-2 Coated Header. Although I will listen to a V8 Z, I doubt I will convert mine over. Just can't bring myself to do it to a '70.…

I saw this on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/240z-Headers-JDM-Fairlady-2-0L-Rare_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33631QQitemZ290095819834QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW Other than the fitment issues would this actually match up the ports on a 240z?

Now I had no idea this decision would be so difficult! We have nearly completed the restoration of my 1971 240z. The exhaust system is 2.5" diameter and, currently, there is no tailpipe. I've been looking through photos to try and find a great looking tailpipe. But, I am coming up with no solid answers. I'd like to go with a thick tailpipe with a rolled end. But, there isn't much on ebay at the moment. Do you guys have opinions about this ? Anywhere I can look to find cool tailpipe ideas for my size of exhaust ? -- Mike PS: I would really like to get a billet-style tip similar to the one on my Harley (attached)

Anybody know where I might could get a JDM Header Flange? It is very simular to the stock 280Z exaust flange, just a tad longer and the bottom bolt holes have wider spacing.

I'm looking for a header for my 77. Its a stock L28 With EFI and a round ezhaust port head. I have a square port N42 that hasn't been run since it was rebuilt that I could switch over. I also have a mild Snyder cam that I could put on the N42. My only hesitancy about changing heads is that there are only 4100 miles on this car so there are still alot of miles left on the motor. Back to the haeder I live on a p-j budget and don't have much to spend on a header. I always seem to get outbid on Ebay and don't have the time to run around and hope to get lucky at the wrecking yards. Anybody have any ideas on where to find one that is functional and affordable I have no problem…

I wish that I was asking for help with a 240z, but unfortunately I don't have one yet. Since a lot of you seem to have experience working with all kinds of problems on cars (namely aged and exposed ones), I thought I'd give it a shot here. I have a sentra, but nuts are nuts, right? It seems that the dealership impact-wrenched the 14mm header nuts extra hard when they replaced it last year. I'm tring to put on an aftermarket header, but I'm having a crazy-hard time getting the nuts off. I sprayed them with PB blaster anti-seize and let them soak for a few hours. Came back with and they didn't bulge. SoI got a blow torch and heated them for a while so they'd expand - not…

My 72 240Z needs a new exhaust system, including a replacement for its old Hooker header, and I am very confused as to what is best. My car is in stock condition, and will remain so for the time being. I would like decent quality, trouble-free installation, a deeper "sporty" tone (not a raspy "ricer" noise), and performance at least on a par with the original stock system. Forum threads have run the gamut. Choices mentioned include: (1) various MSA setups, (2) Monza/Pacesetter, (3) local muffler shop "custom" do-it-yourself. I have heard of no other options. MSA systems concern me because the pipe diameter is much larger than stock (2.5"), and some say this reduces …

OK, no new story for us Z owners, exhaust fumes getting in the cockpit. However I've covered most bases, and still cant seem to figure it out... I've replaced the rear hatch seal and weatherstripping, adjusted the latch so that it closes very tight. replaced taillight gaskets, and even silicone sealed the outer edges as well of the lights. Took out interior panels and expanding latex sealed the inner fender edges, sealed around all grommets for the fuel tank lines and replaced all grommets in the rear. I even just for the sake of trying took some gaffers tape and taped my hatch shut closing all the areas where fumes could sneak in, and still fumes!! I have a side exit exh…
