I've read many threads and done my searches and have decided there is no discussion happening where people compare the exhaust systems available for the street on a performance level. I am looking at a few systems for my car, but I was hoping that I could spawn a robust discussion that would perhaps crowd source enough information that we could put together a sticky post for people to be able to reference in the future. These are the pieces of information I am hoping to capture, but if you think I missed something please add to it (I am by no means an exhaust expert or I wouldn't need to do this): Impact on HP / Torque at various points along the rev range Materials…

So I have taken off the old header and it weighed quite a bit. I was a bit surprised. So the new header does not have connections for smog and also does not have the connection for the air filter. Do I take off the air pump and all the other misc equipment since I can't use it anymore? Pics below.

I finally worked up the stones to order a set of these, and just got an email saying they're NLA. I thought I'd seen the P/N in the Nissan Motorsports catalog - looks like I was using the 2010 version. Sure enough, they're missing from the 2012 catalog. Nismoparts.com - Your #1 Source for OEM Parts and Accessories Bummer. The MSA ones don't appeal to me and the Stahl ones would require skipping a few meals this month. The search continues.

Does anyone have experience, or know someone who does, with sean's Z-story header and full exhaust system. I am considering purchasing a full system and am curious about your experience and specifically how it sounds at freeway speeds of 70 -75 mph or 3700 RPM.

Recently I've been calculating the costs and finalizing the logistics for an RB26DETT swap I'm going to do into my 260Z. I understand to some people this alone may be sacrilegious, but to each, his own. I have everything else for the swap figured out except for my exhaust. Obviously, I am going to need a custom exhaust, so I'm looking for suggestions on mufflers and resonators that can give me a good F1 style sound, but, I also don't want it to be earsplittingly loud. I do understand that raising the rpm's would be the best way to do this, which I plan on doing eventually, once I have the money to rebuild the engine with aftermarket internals. But, for now, I would like t…

It turns out my headers and intake manifold are not the same thickness. That presents a clamping issue using the thick washers. I was wondering if somebody has some of those thick washers modified so that just half of the washer is raised. Otherwise I will just have to grind a set up to fit. Any good tips from others that have run into this mismatch? Don't have a lathe or a welder so just looking for a easy way to get these manifolds clamped correctly so no leaks. Thanks

My order from Sean Desart arrived safely so last weekend I replaced the muffler & S pipe with 2 pieces of the Z Story S30 system. When the downpipe is available to mate up with the stock manifold, I will order the remaining pieces to complete the exhaust system. I also purchased a stainless resonator and an adapter to go from 2 to 2 1/2 inches. My great neighbor across the street let me use his lift and mig welded a new resonator and the 2" to 2 1/2" reducer, or increaser in this case to adapt to the stock system. Everything fitted up great, the quality is beyond excellent, and the sound of course very pleasing. Nice burble at idle, and beautiful note g…

MSA 6-1 headers with Z Story JDM muffler. No drone, not too loud, not too quiet, just right. Awesome sound! Trust me on this! A little cut and weld to make for perfect fitment but not bad at all.

Took my stock 76 280z out yesterday for the possible final ride of the year, added some stabil and gas. aaaaaand it snowed today.... Anyways, as I was driving, I hit the accelerator pedal pretty hard, and then I heard clanking and it was loud, it was clearly dragging something. Pulled over, and the whole exhaust had nearly fallen off the car, it was only being dragged under the car thanks the the rear hanger. I took the hanger off, put the exhaust in my car, and limped home. It was very loud. I was lucky I had just tightened one of the hangers, or I'm pretty sure I would've ran over the exhaust and left it in the road... which would've been much worse lol…

http://www.abarth-exhausts.com/datsun/ Does anyone have any experience with these. I am in the middle of complete engine rebuild, and am increasing the piston 2mm. Am also upgrading the head with mild performance cam, port/polish etc. Higher performance will necessitate a better breathing exhaust system. The system was designed available specifically for the 240Z ( 70-73) by Abarth, as an aftermarket add on. It is a bolt on, no modification needed. This particular exhaust is a new, 35 year old NOS that is still in the original wrapping. All comments or suggestions appreciated, I want to stay with OE/original period aftermarket parts rather than a modified mode…

Today I was trading PMs with another member who was having figment issues with the Race Header hitting the transmission cross member. I have had the same issue using the full stainless system. Also the number 6 tube is located so close to the lower fuel line on my SUs that Sean sent me a Race Version which moves the number 6 tube forward. Sounded great but when I tried to install it it made contact with the tension bar mount. There is an in other member that I believe had the same issue. Are others having fitment issues? 72 body and block, everything else 71, Tokico springs, Illumina, R180 CLSD, 83 close ratio, 3.90 gears, Ztherapy SUs, BRE 15X7 Libre wheels a…

Got these off craigslist for $50 including the midsection of pipe with it. Was just wondering what kind these are and if they look to be any good. I think the midsection is home made, just by finding a newer sticker on the piping. Think they’ll be decent?
