After reading posts on this website, and consulting my How to Modify Your Nissan/Datsun SOHC Engine book, I got my hands on two Clifford Research 6-2 headers. The first set is NOS, with absolutely beautiful welds, a nice true thick mounting flange, and is ceramic coated inside and out. The second is used, sandblasted, and coated (not ceramic). There's one small hole I'll have to fix up. The welds aren't as nice, and look to be of the quality of the set I have now. I guess it's safe to say I'm a header nut. I plan to use the ceramic coated one, and got 2nd one just to have around.

Let's say that I, hypothetically...no, not me - a friend. Yeah, let's say a friend hypothetically got a fix-it ticket that included "modified exhaust" that the cop thought was too loud (it isn't) and needed to show up at the DMV to settle it. If that scenario ever presented itself and if this friend made a makeshift exhaust silencer (that works pretty darned well!), he might have the following question for you guys: "What, if anything is the danger of a substantial increase in back pressure to the engine over a short time/distance?". He is prepared to stop at a park near the DMV to install said device if it is better not to drive 8-10 miles round trip with the increa…

I did a lot of miscellaneous work on my 260z to get it ready for the Summer. I was ecstatic that it started after rebuilding the dome-top carburetors. While I was working on the carburetors, I removed the intake manifold to polish it up and coat it with a clear heat resistant paint. A minute or so after the car started, smoke from around the manifold gasket began to appear. I'm assuming I need to pull the intake and exhaust manifolds off and reinstall it but I'm not sure what I did wrong the first time. One thing I think I did wrong was to not use a torque wrench because it was difficult to reach the bolts. Are there any other pointers you could provide?

I noticed my OE muffler had a leak so decided to tackle replacing it. Only thing I could find that was near OE was a Bosal 280-520. this has a flange that goes from the Catalytic back to the muffler tip. Cheap at only about 50$ with various discounts. 1st thing I noted after pulling the OE was the pipe from the flange back was not as long as the OE before making the bend down the diff. It was about 4" too short. I am guessing that the CAT converter on my CA car maybe short than a standard resonator. Since I don't have a resonator to compare its only a guess. Anyway bought some pipe and various fittings thinking I would fabricate a joiner and use U clamps to connect i…

Would like to purchase a stainless steel header for my '72 240Z ... stock engine ... just wanted the longevity of stainless. Unable to find "state side" dealers that sale stainless headers. Anyone have suggestions or contacts? I looked at ZStory (nice product) but by the time I buy it and ship it it's +$700. Someone in the states needs to fill this gap with supplying stainless headers for the s30. Any leads appreciated. Thanks

Does anyone have a source for stepped washers to properly mount an intake manifold / header when there is a flange thickness difference? I've added a picture as an example. I know one can be filed down but just wondering if there is a ready source with different step lengths that can be ordered.

Anyone have any experience with removing the inserts in the exhaust ports? Putting new ceramic coated headers on and wondered if taking them out, not sure how easy it would be w/o the head off, would improve flow? Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Got some MSA headers since there was a problem with the stock manifold. The engine builder supplied some thick washers and the R&R shop owner thinks they're OK. I don't want to second guess those guys since they both know way more than me. Thought I'd ask though. If I need them I can order them today. Header is out getting some ceramic since the coated ones aren't available for awhile. The spacers are available at MSA: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic19o/14-0373

My 71 came with a complete 3/2 headers, Abarth system with 2 resonators. It's a little quiet for me. I like it scavenging loud but not too loud, some droning acceptable, popping backfiring is fine as I think it's sexy. What are my options? I hate to cut the Abarth system if someone could use it. I am leaning towards twice pipes and if needed I will resort to adding a mid muffler. Thanks 12/71 2.6 block E88 heads triple weber 3/2 Abarth Tokico 1-3/4 sways

Hey all, I'm once again thinking about exhaust, and I need some info from someone who has the MSA Premium flanged exhaust. I need the length of the longer straight section of the center pipe. Can anyone help me with this?
