81 280ZX w/A/T - I drive about 22 miles to work. In the first 5 or 6 miles when i decelerate I get a loud noise. At first I thought it was something loose in the exhaust but now I am wondering if it could be u-joints or something. After I drive it more than 6 miles the noise is gone. Could something be warming up and only makes noise when cold? It sounds kinda like a semi useing jake brakes. Any suggestions?

Hi My 280zx, 1980, now have a another dangerus electrical problem. Im completly lost!. The problem starts when I start fast from a crossing, take a quick turn or at a take over that requires a sudden rise in the RPM. The fuel and door lamp goes on and then the engine starts to cut of. I can barly keep it running on a few pistons and when I stop I hear the fuel relay click and then it quits!. When I turn the key it will start immediatly. Usually it will then run ok but after a few miles the same happen now without a rise in the RPM. Other times it will run perfectly for a week or more. The ecu test lamp shows an error on the battery when I start the engine again but i…

Just wanted to share with all the members that the September issue of Hemmings Sports & Exotic has a buyers guide article for 280 Z's. I have the opportunity to buy a 1979 280ZXR with 56k original miles and have some questions. I'm not a Z car guy so I thought I would ask here. Car is all original and the interior is excellent. I know about the rail issues underneath but have not looked at them yet. For now let's assume they are ok. Car is in the midwest but never driven in winter. It Runs great and is mechanically solid. Chrome is all good. It needs a paint job however. Good news is the owner has an unused set of decals for it. (And don't ask, they are not for sale). 2+2 and turbo Flywheels are the same correct? If so would i be able to mount up the clutch off of a turbo onto my 2+2 and it will work right?

Hello all, the problem i'm having is that when i put the shifter into 1st gear and if i'm not holding it in place, the shifter slams out of gear. this does not happen in any other gear. it has the t5 borg warner tranny . what could be the cause and how hard would it be to repair ? thank in advance for any help.

I gaulded the threads on the bottom caliper pin (sub pin) on the left side front brakes. This is the lower of the two pins. I can't seem to find that pin anywhere. I don't even think it comes with a whole replacement caliper. Any suggestions on where to look?

I am looking at a 1981 2+2 with 40,000 miles. The original owner says the ar was rust proofed. Yet he replaced both front fenders because of rust. I'm not impressed with the over look of a car with only 40,000 miles on it. Yes it is 28 years old. Could the odomiter have been disconectted? Anything I should look at? He is asking $7,000. I'm thinking more like $5,000. Thanks!
