This popped up this morning. I've noticed that there aren't many Datsuns ending up in the local wrecking yards anymore. This one looks like it might still have the drive train. The whole car might even be saveable! https://row52.com/Vehicle/Index/JN1HZ04S3BX405996

PN A18-000 203 23710 F5910 works fine on my test stand, but has a hole next to the side mounted LED opening with what looks like a slotted round shaft. Its a pot, have not messed with it. I tried searching on the PN the 203 does not match with any thing. Talked to Jim Wolf tech support, they thought it could be a JDM thing, had not seen this either. since its a pot I don't think its for reading out data anymore. Its actually hooked up like a variable resistor (only two wires to the pot). The engine starts and runs fine, goes into closed loop (blinking of led after warm up an over 2k rpm). Below I started the video where I noticed the extra h…

Inspired by a couple of recent posts on the Bring-A-Trailer thread, here's a thread to show some of the 'It wasn't me' type beastliness inflicted on cars by previous owners or their paid minions. I think we've all seen them. To get the ball rolling, I present to the jury this absolutely arcane replacement fuel filler arrangement on a 1970 car. I had been asked to perform an inspection and appraisal of the car for its new (and somewhat green) owner before he commissioned a restoration by a specialist here in the UK. Being an early Japanese market variant with a low production volume, a second opinion was being sought and I was happy to oblige. Lots (lots!) wrong with …

Having spent zero time around turbo Z's, EFI or blow through, I'd like to ask the community to help me identify this Nissan turbo I was given by someone who knows even less about it than me. They told me it was for a Mazda Miata. I didn't mention to them that it says Nissan on it. Maybe someone had it on a Miata at some point? Anyway it has a Hitachi crank sensor that if you do a search seems to come up with a cam position sensor for the RB motors. Also an oil cooler. I appreciate any info and as always, your time and input.

I’m ready to ship my long block to Eiji at Datsun Spirit. Looking for ideas on building a crate for shipment. seen a few pics out there but most look like a good portion of the oil pan is supported by the wood frame. Any help or advice is much appreciated. This will be a round trip affair. Thanks in advance.

Hi guys, Can someone tell me what's the difference between a euro 280zxt and a usa 280zx turbo ECU (Yes the 280zx turbo has a ecu like ECCS.. As it has a Microprocessor (and thus a clockfrequency!) it's a electronic computer) Where the nonturbo had a sort of analog computer the turbo had a real processor in it! Some guy from Belgium needs a ECU for a 1983 euro 280zx turbo.. nowhere to be found.. i was informed that the usa version will not fit.. someone have some info on the type/part number that's used in 280zx turbo usa and euro? Thanks, for any info!

I've owned a 78Z for over 40 years... I'm not nearly as familiar with the ZX. I'm going through a box of Z/ZX engine sensors and ran across several that are not associated with my Z...I was hoping some of you from the collective ZX knowledge base could help me identify these parts..The three #5 sensors are similar, but each has subtle differences from the other two. Likewise, the two #2 sensors also have subtle differences from each other. I'd like to positively ID them so I can offer them for sale. Thanks! After my last drive my friend noticed a little bit of brake fluid under the left rear wheel after getting it tucked back into the garage. With brake fluid being pretty much being made of Xenomorph blood I decided to tear into it sooner rather than later. It was soon obvious that the leak was coming from a failed caliper seal. No huge surprise as the rear calipers are the only things on the brake system that I have not gone through and replaced/reconditioned. Sadly, upon disassembly I discovered quite a bit of rot on the inner facing piston. Probably not a good idea to re use it. Banking on the right side being in close to the same condition. Luckily I have tha…

Howdy y'all, i'm new to this forum so my apologies if this isn't the right place to ask this. I have a current daily driver (2008 Toyota tundra) and I'm finishing up my first project car (free 1998 ford expedition) so naturally being around hot rods all the time I'm looking for another project car. I've loved these Z cars for a long time and i love v8s. i found a 1980 280 ZX with a chevy 350 swapped in (i know these engines like the back of my hand) that I'm going to look at this Sunday. I know how to check engine trans ect. but is there some things that are Z specific to look out for? i know around the windshield, battery, rear hatch and spare tire are common rust spots,…

So I ended up getting this free ZX from Craigslist, expecting it to be a total pile, but actually it's not too bad. It has less rust and body damage than my car did when I started out with it many years ago. Too bad there's no title because it wouldn't bee too much to get it on the road. I have enough sitting in my garage to do it. The trunk does this wild thing where it stays open with these shock absorber looking things instead of a broomstick or a pair of vice grips. I'll have to research that a bit further. No transmission. Originally no engine but the guy ended up giving it to me after a bit of talking about Z cars. Great guy. The engine looks to …

I just got a 280zx, and it needs a few rust repairs. Im having trouble sourcing patch panels. I see s30 patch panels in several shops, but no one seems to carry them for the s130. Any suggestions? For now I need a front lower fender panel, but I imagine I will need more as time and repairs go on. Is there a source for these? Are people custom fabbing them from sheet metal? Complete panel replacement?

Hello everyone. I’m taking my 1981 280ZX to the International Show in July 2022 in Alabama. Every time I search on line I get tons of non Nissan battery brands. Does a genuine NISMO Nissan 12 volt battery even exist? I want it to be the premium NISSAN battery, with logos, since the judges take note of these things. I want to get the Primo Primo Nissan 12 volt battery with the logo on the battery. Can anyone provide any help? Thank you! I won 1st place in the Peoples Choice in the 2021 Brandon Missouri ZFest and took 2nd place twice in the Route 66 Car Show in Springfied Illinois. So, I have a contender but I need an exclusive Nissan battery!!
