Hi all, It's been a while since I posted. Anyhow, my Z has started giving me problems after running pretty good for the last year. This problem started about a couple months ago. One day I got in it and tried to start and it just turned over and over and over and I never heard the sound of ignition as if there was no fuel or spark. Then moments later it fired right up. As the days progressed since then, those moments between not firing to firing right up increased to the point now that it won't fire at all. Here is the progress of my zx 2+2 build. it's going to take quite a while, and i'll be posting updates one by one, because of the lack of availability of parts and stuff for the 83 280zx 2+2. but every time i do a little bit, i'll post updates/pics of before and after. thanks for watching! as i said in my first post, i just bought this car 3 days ago. She runs and drives pretty well but needs a lot of love. when i got her, she had an exhaust leak(completely blown gasket) that was bad enough it sounded almost like open exhaust. luckily, there was a new gasket in the back seat. I have two NOS switch assemblies that fit the 280ZX, 510 and 810. They're new in the original Datsun boxes. Looks like the lids were open and they collected some dust. Hello all. I'd appreciate it if someone has the Japan domestic market wiring diagram for the fuel injection system on this Non turbo 280z. The problem i have is that i dont see an air temp sensor in the intake (or anyplace) of the air flow meter. also, i see a wire for an O2 sensor (I think) but the car has no O2 sensor installed. Does someone know for sure if this Specific car should or should not have both the air temp sensor and O2 sensor installed? My friend just purchased this car, and i'm his pet mechanic . i'm just trying to figure out if it should or should not have this bits. it currently runs great after a full fluid changes/service/tune and now…

Flat spot?

Hello again and after finding a truck load of air leaks and blocked injectors the 280z finally runs. A local garage helped out making sure it's running but it feels like its running flat, it does run but I feel like i need to put my foot to the floor to get any where. Idles fine and I checked plugs and they look perfect. Also seems to really struggle from 4000rpm onward like it's just running out of power. Not to sure where to start. New fuel pump,regulator, injectors cleaned. Any input would help. I feel like I'm close. Thanks

Hello again, my 1980 280z has a burbling (slowish) noise coming from the overflow tank. the car runs fine and does not overheat, doesn't seem to be using water either, is this normal? the oil is not grey or murky and radiator itself is full. im just wondering if there is a bit of air in the system? any ideas would be appreciated. thanks Chris

Hey guys! I'm Izzie, new to the forum here. I'm on my second 280zx, 83 t top, 4 seater. She's in need of a lot of love, but I plan on eventually having her back to showroom condition. as it is now, she runs pretty well, drives, but needs tie rod ends and struts to be driving perfectly... I've had to rip all the carpet out of her, because someone don't know how to take care of a car apparently. the floor pans were full of water and there was about an inch deep of mud in the drivers side. the guy i bought her from said he was surprised that i wasn't scared to test drive her. I just bought this SCCA 1981 Datsun 280zx for a road race car. IMSA WIDE BODY. Body is not perfect, needs TLC. Centerline wheels with good rubber. Front disc brakes, rear drums. 5spd. The motor cranks, but is knocking. Bottom end. Appears to have a racing intake, polished valve cover, header, exhaust, fuel injection, air intake, strut tower brace, fiberglass hood, tach and interior pieces. I have the title, but it is an Oregon salvage due to Theft. I am selling as is, title included if you want it, but I don't know what it would take to get a NC title. My loss.
