We have a 1983 280 ZX (naturally-aspirated) with about 180K miles on it, not currently running. It has a 5-speed stick, leather/embossed suede interior, electronic dash, T-tops. I needs restoration. The exhaust manifold has a crack and we have a replacement used part for it. It sounds like a throw-out bearing needs to be replaced. The clutch is new. Body is straight but needs paint. All the glass is intact and not leaking. The car is nearly all-original, including the wheels, and has always been in California. Can anyone give us a ballpark figure or what it's worth? Thanks everyone! -Louie

Some good way to put some pep in it's step, of course after tune up. Edit: goal for this car is daily driven @230-250whp hopefully

Hi all. I have a friend who has restored a 1980 ZXCoupe. He is having trouble locating a rear hatch glass rubber seal. Thats the one that holds the stainless strip. Are these likely available anywhere.? Thanks. Brian.

I just bought a 1978 Z my first Z that I have owned. The engine is clean and the previous owner had kept her paperwork in order. Other than needing a new battery it seemed to be running fine until tonight. There was a faint clicking sound that got a little louder for just a few seconds and then it shut down. When trying to restart the car it made the standard starter clicking sound and would not turn over. Does anyone have any ideas? Trying to figure out if it is within my pay scale to fix myself or if I need to take it to a shop?

I'm in the process of replacing all the vacuum lines under the dash on my 1983 280 ZXT, and I can't find vacuum hose with an exterior dimension matching the original. You wouldn't think this would matter, but some of the vacuum fittings are recessed and have a "ring" around them into which the hose must fit. The oversize OD hose doesn't go - I've had to cut off sections of the old hose and use a fitting to attach them to the new hose for the last couple of inches. On the engine side, I still have original clamp fittings which won't go over the slightly larger OD hose, either. If you have replaced the hoses under the dash - what did you do? Did you just force the replace…

I have a 79 Fairlady Z and the AC is shot. The AC parts cross with a 79 280ZX. I found the Compressor and other parts but the compressor clutch that I was told is the right one is not and I can not find one that fits the new compressor I have. ANYONE have any clues on where I can get a AC Compressor Clutch and or a Compressor with a clutch on it. (My compressor is a Hitachi MJ 167-41) I go on line and they list them but you call them and they say opps sorry we do not have it. Can not get them. Have not found one yet anywhere. Car is in the shop in pieces as I thought I had all the parts. I do not like surprises. Would appreciate any help. If not I am looking at…

I have been looking for weeks for a re-manufactured master cylinder or repair kit for my daughter's 79. They are back ordered EVERYWHERE. Not interested in a junk yard part because they don't last sitting idle. Not worth the risk. No luck on Ebay either. If anyone has an idea I would love to hear it. I have posted in the parts wanted sections of several forums. We have an 83 parts car but the MC is different.

I couldnt say no. That about sums it up. I am sure its a sickness. I dont really have any immediate plans or need it either. My 240 still needs ignition wiring help, but just couldnt resist. I had to tow it home as it isnt running at the moment. It has afm problems apparently and the gas stinks of varnish. It cranks over fine, will be looking to get it started soon, to see how good she runs. No plates, cracked windshield, and missing tittle make it a parts car for me, along with the auto trans. ): Body and interior are in good shape though.... 156k, has a pretty cool front spoiler too! Thought I would share the good news.

Hi everyone! I'm a new member to the forum and this is my first post. I have a 1979 280ZX that my parent bought new from the dealer and picked it up on the day that I was born (my mom went into labor right after they picked up the car). After sitting in barn from 1986 to 1997, I got it running in 1997 and drove it a bit. Then it went back into the barn and hasn't moved. It's been started every few years, so it runs somewhat. The car has low miles (35K) but the paint is shot. Dash is cracked and carpet needs to be replaced among other things. Some light rust, but not too bad. I'm now at a point where I'd like to do a full and proper restoration. I don't have the…

Hi everyone, Do you know of a place where I can get my digital radio and cassette tape deck repaired or rebuilt for my 83 ZX? Had it sent out for repair by one shop and it came back unrepaired. Their repairman sold parts were no longer available.
