I was driving home yesterday and saw a nice 280ZX turbo car sitting in one of my neighbors driveway. I'm not sure if its a good deal or not, as she is asking "$5 or $6 thousand" for it, and I never shopped these cars or have much intrest in them. Didn't get picks of it, but here are some details I got in talking to her. 1) She is the original owner. 2) It's like a dull metalic purple or plumb color, and it looks like its been repainted at some point. 3) Cloth interior, 4 seater. 4) Manual trans. 5) Has a few small dents and scratches, nothing that would brake the deal. 6) The car runs and drives, although she says she hasen't driven it much since her soon to be X husband …

Here is the tag from my Fairlady Z. I was looking at it and I can figure out most of it by the numbers but the last line is the one that intrigues me the most. I was told it was a 1979 model and by the Vin number I think that this is correct as it is fairly low BUT what is the 0 - 12 on the last line? Then I thought maybe that this was manufactured date. So made in 1980 (thus the 0) and the 12 month. December. Was a good guess? The USA cars have the month and year on them. I do not read Japanese so I do not know. I just picked up a 1982 280zx and it has a N42 engine with a P79 Head. Not what I was expecting. Has anyone else come across this before? Why an N42 engine is in a 1982 model?

What would you use to inflate the Spare on a ZX? The rubber on mine looks good but I'm assuming the can that came with it from Datsun is not. Also, are there still inflatable spares like that available today?

Well, the Zcar bug bit me again, so I had to find a cure. You see, my ’72 hasn’t been driveable for the past 6 years, after blowing the head gasket. It needs a total rebuild on not only the engine, but everything else, too. Having left the NorCal Bay Area and and moved to SoCal into a HOA (that’s really a 4 letter word!) five years ago, I can’t perform any major repairs and the poor 240 has been parked outdoors. So for the past year or so I’ve been watching Ebay and craigslist, checking the prices to see where the market was at. Anybody know of a good restoration or repair shop for 280ZXs in Maryland or Northern VA? I need suspension, steering, and upholstery work. I'd also like to get the engine cleaned up to the point where it's clean enough to show. Not sure how all that is done so I'm looking for a good shop or two that can take of it for me.

Greetings from ccccccold Ontario, Canada. My newly purchased 1983 280ZX 2+2, has front seats installed from a 1986 300zx, but not hooked up electrically. can anyone tell me how to hook the seats up? Is there a factory wiring harness already there?- and will it accept the harness from the 86' 300? I'm curious because if there was, why didn't the previous owner just connect the wires?
