So, my '83 280ZX Turbo deserves (and needs) new front end bushings after 27 years. I've bought the Energy (black) poly bushing package for the front end, and I was relieved to see that it wasn't all packaged in one big box, but came in a set of packages, each labeled for the specific application (anti-sway bar, etc.). That will help me to do the front end over 2-3 weekends, choosing which set of bushings I want to replace each time. And I won't be shy about taking press-fit parts to a machine shop. I have no interest in burning out old bushings. I also replaced the steering rack @3 years ago and noticed that the rubber bushings for the rack were pretty mushy from oil…

In revamping a rusted out fuel pump, my manual says there is a fuel damper forward. In exploring - I found a plastic wafer thing in it's own snap together plastic box!!!! bolted to the frame -- and further on, an all steel "damper?"... Both have hoses in/out! Can anyone tell me which is which - - or what is what??? Are they dampers? modulators? What are they called...? I notice in fuel pump replacement instructions, they tell you to watch out for gas coming out of the fuel tank. How can the gas come out, if it has to be sucked out (other than natural gravity siphoning)... If I put in a new fuel pump, do I have to prime it??? I wonder if there is a campaign on to rid …

What should I pay for a Japanese import right hand drive 2+2 that needs a little work to get it running and a little rust repair? Does the RHD and Fairlady have an impact on the value? Any input appreciated. John

So I recently took a two hour trip with my NA 82 280ZX and it developed a surge in it about half way through the trip. It started as just a stutter running at 80 and progressively got worse, by the time I got to my destination it would barely maintain 60 up hills and buck when accelerating. I checked fuel filter and pump pressure and didn't find anything wrong, free flowing through the filter and had 34lbs running jumping to 40 when I open the throttle. On my return trip the car would maintain 80 but surge on the hills. Any ideas what would be causing this? My definition of a surge in this case is a slight drop in RPM (maybe 50-75 rpm) and a lack of power. Help would…

I am starting a S130 Registry so we have a listing of Vins and owners. Along with what options for the Later Vins. I will be running through FAST to collect the Later Vins but the Early ones are not in FAST. Currently I have the 280ZXR models in the Database. I am adding more VINS as I type this. This is going to be one of the harder projects I have Taken on as the S130 has the two different Vins. Also the Process for the search is new to me as It is my first attempt at Javascript and XML http://www.xenons130.com/production.html Here is the link for the Registry I have started, Not all Vins are in here. If your Vin is not listed Please Fill out the form under the search b…

This one claims to have 3200 miles and is the original owner. Here is the ad in case the posting gets deleted. http://baltimore.craigslist.org/cto/1328627739.html It seems like more and more 10th AE low mileage are coming out. Does anyone know this person?

Just wanted to share with all the members that the September issue of Hemmings Sports & Exotic has a buyers guide article for 280 Z's. It is really informative for anyone trying to restore or save one of these great cars. Thought I would share, since my car was the fortunate one featured in the article. The photos were taken at Carlisle's Import show in May.

Check it out, the first of 3,000 10th anniversary ZX's on ebay for $35,000 (reserve not met). http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1980-DATSUN-280ZX-BLACK-GOLD-1-AE-1-052-MILES_W0QQitemZ300336163505QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item45ed6e2ab1&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245#v4-35 Not only is it the first, it's cherry with only 1,052 miles on the clock! Autoblog has a nice little write up about the Black Gold 280's and their associations, pretty funny.

I have the opportunity to buy a 1979 280ZXR with 56k original miles and have some questions. I'm not a Z car guy so I thought I would ask here. Car is all original and the interior is excellent. I know about the rail issues underneath but have not looked at them yet. For now let's assume they are ok. Car is in the midwest but never driven in winter. It Runs great and is mechanically solid. Chrome is all good. It needs a paint job however. Good news is the owner has an unused set of decals for it. (And don't ask, they are not for sale). My question is what's a car like this worth restored? And what is a fair price as is? Z prices seem to be all over the map. This one is…
