howdy y'all! new to the forum, i bought a 1983 280zx na with a 5spd, non running and had been sitting for 15+ years. my brother has an 80 with a 383 swap in his so this will definitely be in good hands! my current goal is to make the car ruin and drive with the i6, and then ill collect parts and stuff and ls swap it. we already have a 5.3 lm7 on a pallet ready for when the time comes. this thread will be used to keep track of what we do to the car over time. so far we got new injectors, fuel rail, fuel cell and fuel pump. we made it run by pouring some premix down the intake manifold (premix since it hasnt ran in so long the extra oil will keep the rings from siezing) …

I got my 280ZX driving this past Friday, first time in somewhere from 10 to 20 years for that car. Taking it slow and steady no more than 3000 RPM's or 60 MPH for the first 100 miles. I'm on older tires that have no cracking, hold air and appear very new, no wear. But I'm thinking I'll just change them out. Question is what is the best tire size for the car? I do want to drive the car and corner it, I don't really want the luxury touring car feel, prefer more of a sports car type of ride. The picture is after just a garden hose wash, no waxing yet.

I'm making some progress on getting this beautiful car back on the road. But I did make one mistake. I had to take the gas tank out and to do so I cut the rubber filler neck, it's shaped like an elbow and connects directly to the tank. I've been to many web sites including vintage Z car parts(they tried to help me but we came up short.) Solid suggestions greatly appreciated.

I joined here because I have the opportunity to purchase my first ever Z car. It’s a 1980 10 anniversary car in red and black with a red interior. It has 35,000 miles on it and has been sitting in a garage for about the past 11 years. I haven’t had a chance to see the car yet but from the few pictures I’ve seen it looks very solid. The car has never been hit or rusted out, tee tops with a manual transmission. I already know they only made 500 in red black. My question is what is the car worth approximately, running and driving down the road? And what is it approximately worth sitting in a garage about 4 hours each way from me? Sincere replies would be very welcome…

Hello all I’m Scott in Summerville, SC! I have an 82 280ZX N/A and I’m desperately trying to get an 83 280ZX running I paid 100.00 for. I apologize in advance if I’ve posted this in wrong place... I’m having an issue getting an EFI pulse from ECU on the 83. I’ve got 12VDC on all six injectors plugs on one pin with key off and I’ve got a very dim yellow pulse on each plug when I turn it over with a NOID light installed. How bright should the light be? It stayed the same yellowish color as I moved it from plug. I currently have the fuel rail pulled up with injectors still connected to rail. All electrical checks have been made with all six injector plus off all injecto…

I thinking of selling my 1979 280ZX but not sure value. I've owned it for 34 years. Decal on side 280ZXR but not sure what that means. Garage kept but haven't started in years. Would appreciate any feedback. Update.. I tried to start and did turn over so getting new battery. So will be running when I sell.

Good evening everyone, I think I have posted about this before but I am in need of help. A little background, my grandfather left my family around 20 cars or so but thanks to the neglect of my dad they have rotted in the warehouse. I am 18 years old and going off to college next year but have successfully restored a 1994 cobra from the same warehouse. I am based near Houston, Texas and want to make this car a drifting machine. I plan on engine swapping this car but I am unsure on where to start. I will include some pictures, I have started by removing the seats and other items from the interior. I want to remove the dash from the Datsun and have downloaded the manual and …

These are the cars that we have stored in our warehouse. Just to be clear my grandfather passed away in 2011 and 2 years ago I discovered these cars and realized how badly kept they have been. I am only 18 and I am trying to restore as many as possible. I have successfully restored a 1994 Mustang Cobra (indie-500 edition) that was no easy task but this has led me into my passion for cars. I understand these cars are in bad shape, but I am doing what I can to hopefully make my grandfather proud.. Lastly, some of these cars have not been driven or started in over 25 years... Which is extremely sad and I sadly have no one to blame except my father who does not care for cars …

I love the Datsun 280ZX with all my heart and I've wanted one for years now. I don't have much to spend (roughly 5 grand) and I'd like your guys' help. I've tried eBay, craigslist, 360autos, and other sketchy websites but I cant find anything I want. Do you guys know of any sites I can try to find one in my price range? I dont mind if its a fixer-upper but I definitely dont want any rust. As original as possible would be great!

My neighbor was hoping I could look at her car for her, she has a 300zx that looks like the power steering pump is failing. I offered to put it up on some jack stands and take a look for the leak, figure it might be an O-ring and at worst a line to replace. she also asked if there could be something wrong with an distributor she had, it does not appear that there is anything that can wear out inside this one, there’s a disk that has a bunch of slots that face a sensor. I figure it’s some type of hall sensor. I think she might want to replace the distributor rotor and cap as they show signs of wear at the electrode, but nothing that is too alarming. Is there anyt…

This is actually about my 04 Frontier SC. Mods, if you feel like this should be posted elsewhere feel free to move it and my apologies but I could really use some thoughts on this. I had my clutch replaced a year ago because it started making that groaning noise when you put the clutch pedal to the floor and I just assumed it was the T/O bearing. Well, it started doing it again a few months ago and it turns out that the pilot bushing should have been replaced as well. And this work was done at a dealer so I was not happy about that but I guess that's what I get for not educating myself. So, they replace the pilot bushing recently and now getting the shift lever in…

This came up on my marketplace feed this morning. If someone's interested I could go take a look. Rough car but for the price, if you're into turbos, it might be worth it? https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/724567265137565
