Purchased a 300ZX and the security light is on and the car wont turn over. There is a clicking noise. New battery, window and locks operational with use of the key. Fuel pump pushes fuel when key is turned on. Electrical seems good, all typical interior light and exterior lights work except blinkers and head-lights. Tried: Putting up the windows, shut hood, hatch and doors. Locked with the key and waited 30 minutes. Then unlocked with the key - no change. Appreciate any assistance.

I just purchased an 81 Datsun 280zx that wouldn't start. I combed through lots of forums to figure out a starting/ignition issue. Here are some things I discovered to help narrow down the problem. Maybe this will help others. Car would only crank while in neutral. The park/neutral switch is possibly bad. I moved on to the next item as I could get engine to crank in neutral, but still no start. I then identified that I wasn't getting a spark from the ignition coil. I noticed that the coil positive/negative connections were incorrect which I fixed, but that didn't help. I bypassed the ignition transistor and grounded out the coil on the negative terminal while the…

So I believe the ECU on my 1980 280zx went bad, so I ordered a new one off of ebay to test it. But there was a problem: they sent me one for an for a 1981 280zx. I was going to send it back, but before I did that I thought I'd ask; would it work on my car? I did some research online and found that it should, but I didn't get anything definite. Does anyone know if the one year difference in the make of the ECU will affect that car? The plugin looks the same if that makes any difference. The part number I got was A11-618-427. I believe the part number I need A11-604-420

I have a 1980 280zx and it when I put the key in to on position, the fuel pump turns on and floods the engine with gas, causing the engine to lock in place. Any idea of what might be causing that?

Hi there. New to the forum. Got a 1980 280zx a few months ago and I'm trying to sort out some dash issues. The only guage that works is the speedometer. Fuel, tach, temp, oil, voltage, and the clock all do not work. No dash lights either. I've checked my fuses in the passenger footwell and I've cleaned the battery and chassis ground. Any advice on what to try next and/or if these problems are related?

The car is a 1983 280ZX it was a turbo efi car but it now has an F54 block with a N42 head and it’s carbed. I’d really like to hook up my gauges (none are right now) I have I think most of the plugs on my car still. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200129/bd722383082092cb11c47dd1ff7187b6.jpg[/img] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hey what's up everyone I am the proud new owner of a 76 280z 2+2 I have gotten to the point where I removed the old ignition relay and it is bad. I have some relays laying around but no clue how to wire it up. I have searched and found 2 threads that show them but just of the finished product or just the relay with wires but not how to wire it up. just really need to see what wire goes to what pin. thanks

I have a 1983 280zx turbo motor and there is a sensor on the passenger side left of the oil filter and between the oil filter and the oil dip stick. now on the other side of the oil filter is the oil pressure sensor but I do not know what this one is . it reads normal open with a ohm meter and has 2 electrical connections on it and screws into the block. I am thinking it might be temperature and if so if I can use it for controlling my electric cooling fan. thanks

I am hoping someone who has done this can save me some trouble. My climate control is having the issue where the blower only turns on when in the defrost position and cold air shoots out the floor vents. No heat. I have found several posts saying that this is more than likely one of the two main vacuum lines that runs through the firewall up to the AC vacuum tank. In the engine compartment the lines look fine to the naked eye. What I don't know is how they look inside the cab. I have the dash fully removed, but I can't see how they come through the firewall. Is it literally just a long vacuum hose that runs through the firewall, or is there a plug on the other side to con…

I have a 1980 280ZX it has been having issues starting. When I try to start it in the morning (like 40 degrees outside) it will crank but wont start. In the after noon (65-70 degrees) it starts fine if I give it a little gas. But this morning I tried to diagnose the problem, and there is no spark. Does anyone have any ideas what this might be? The battery, ignition module, ignition coil and voltage regulator are all new.

Trying to figure out completely erratic readings on my oil pressure gauge. I ordered a NOS sender and it’s still crazy. So I’m wanting to narrow this down. There are two prongs on my sender and somewhere I read that one prong was for the meter and the other prong was for the oil warning light, is that true. If so the changes in pressure would result in changes in resistance to ground for reference. What I wanted to know was is the Oil pressure reading resistance across the two prongs for both the light and meter or is it reading reference of resistance to ground on each with one going for the meter and the other going for the light. Any insight here appreciated. Sent…

The car: 1983 280ZX Turbo. When I run the vent/AC blower fan for a few minutes, the fan dies. This happens whether or not the AC is on. If the AC is on, the compressor is still engaged but the fan blowing the air inside just dies. No fuses blow, but the car has to sit for an hour or more before the blower will work again. Since no fuses are blowing, this has the appearance of a component that's heating up and failing, then working after it cools off. But which component? Or is my reasoning faulty? Ideas...?
