Hello all, new to the forum. My '83 na is failing the insulation test when tested at the harness. If i check the switch itself on the throttle body, it passes. The only advise the book has from here is to "check harness" (thanks book) I've peeled back a good bit of insulation to expose and follow the wire, looking for trouble, but can't seem to find anything obvious. Any advise or thoughts on this matter much appreciated.

Hey guys I have been having issues with my 280zx, it has been having intermittent electrical issues. These issues I think were caused by one wire shorting to the body and the voltage regulator in the alternator, after I fixed those two it seemed to be functioning better. Then it wouldn't start one morning, I tried again in the afternoon and it started, the same pattern repeated the next day. The following day it didnt start at all, and hasn't since. I have the Datsun 1980 280zx service manual and have been going through trouble shooting the spark. The book says to disconnect the wire from the coil to the distributor cap and hold it near the engine and it should spark. Whe…

So after reading the schematic, trying to make heads or tails, I finally figured out how to make the power antenna work like factory with an after market stereo installation. Hopefully the back of your (new) radio has an "antenna control" wire included. This antenna control wire should be butt spliced into the (factory) green wire that goes into the factory radio. On my 82 NA car it was on a 4pin plug that had only 3 pins used. Next, the (factory) antenna control 4pin plug with only 3 pins, "Blue"," Blue and Red", "Blue and White" that is connected the antenna button for short range or long range (skinny switch with an antenna symbol). The "Blue" and "Blue …

I replaced my fuel rail and installed some green top Injectors into my 1981 280zx. When trying to crank it 6 puffs of smoke (one per injector) came out from the injectors ports. Do the injectors have little seals around them that I forgot to Install?? Im not sure what to do. I did notice a gap between the hole for the imjectors and the Injectors themselves. Any ideas?

Hi, I'm a newbie from the Seattle area, but definitely a Nissan guy. I own a 1997 D21 XE KingCab with a mere 112,000 miles. It''s like new, has NO issues at all. Wife drives a 1998 Pathy, but she's going for an Xterra soon. The problem I have is with my just-purchased1982 ZX. (Two seater, five speed, non turbo) Starts up and runs great, sure. A few blocks later, it just dies cold. Engine cranks, but no start. An hour or so later, it starts right back up and then does the same thing a few blocks later. This one is worth fixing up, too. Body straight, no issues with clutch, engine, no smoking or knocking. Only 126K on it, new five speed tranny, and a paid a meas…

I searched through all threads here, and allthough they were helpful, they were a little lacking, so i thought I would post this incase anybody else need help in the future. On my 83ZX, this breaker was located on the passenger side above the fuse panel. But what some of the threads here do not indicate is that you have to remove the two bolts that hold the junction box where all the wire connections are. This is a fist sized black plastic mount that sits at a 45 degree angle that block you from getting to the breaker, just remove the screws and push it out of the way. Now, for the breaker location. It is attached by 2 bolts to the inner structure of the car, and the brea…

I took out the dash on my 83 ZX 2+2 and I disconnected the dash harness from the main harness and I also took out the wires from the taillight, fuel pump, everything. Once I put the dash back in and wired everything up the car didn't start. The headlights and lights work for the dash but the gauges and accessory lights on the dash, don't turn on at all. It's like when I turn the key, nothing happens not even the fuel pump turns on and the fuel pump wire and fuel pump wire relay are plugged in.The battery volts on the dash gauge works but that's it. I looked at the ignition switch and the red/blue wire is cut. I read somewhere that the wire connects to the dash harness but…

Thought I had squeak in my Cassette player in my 1980 10th Anniversary 280zx after taking the cassette player out I noticed that the squeak was coming from a small fan located under the dash in between the cassette deck and the glove compartment - Applied some WD40 and the squeak stopped(for Now)- My question is what is this fan for, is it to cool the inside of the dash??? Thanks in advance
