Higuys, The alternator on my 280Z is a recent replacement, and after one year the pulley is rusted on the one visible cheek. I'm not sure is a rusted alternator pulley is correct/OEM for stock, but it doesn't look nice. So I'd like to de-rust it and paint it. I don't think the polished Zinc plating would look right, unless I left it unpolished, but it would be difficult to just plate the one check and leave the groove unplated. Is it possible to remove the alternator pulley while the alternator is still on the engine? What is the usual way to remove the pulley? thxZ

Do you know what this does and where it goes? In more than 10 yrs of looking at Zs in car shows, junkyards and stripping them I have only come across 2 of these. Great idea and I wish I had more. I believe I know why they go missing as well.....

I just bought this car and towed it home - it's been sitting for 2 years - with a bit of starting fluid I got it to start up and run rough for a few seconds. Anyway it won't start up and all the plugs get fuel fouled right away. I get great spark - replaced all plugs, wires, cap & rotor. Anything else to check? I notice two 2-wire connectors in front under thermostat - 1 directly under thermostat and 1 just to the left (looking from front of engine) Is one of these the chts that has something to do with the fuel flowing from injectors? (read about it in another post)

My friend just picked up a 1982 280zx turbo with 99,004 miles on it for $500!!!! We pretty much got a steal on this car. It WILL run if you turn it over and spray starter fluid into the intake. So I know it's getting spark, and it actually idles alright for a few seconds after you spray the starter fluid in. I'm almost 100% sure that the injectors are stuck. I stripped some of the wire cover off two of the wires going to one of the injectors and put my volt meter on there to check. When he turns the car over, it shows voltage, so the injectors should be opening right? It has olllddd gas in it, but I know it's not getting into the combustion chamber because there's nothin…

I own an 83 280zx turbo and the timing does not seem to advance enough. When you set the timing to the correct position the engine stumbles above 2250. If you advance the timing the top end runs great but it stumbles at low end. I have changed the distributer and found that it is advanceng but not enough. It also tends to run rich. Can someone please help.

81 280ZX w/A/T - I drive about 22 miles to work. In the first 5 or 6 miles when i decelerate I get a loud noise. At first I thought it was something loose in the exhaust but now I am wondering if it could be u-joints or something. After I drive it more than 6 miles the noise is gone. Could something be warming up and only makes noise when cold? It sounds kinda like a semi useing jake brakes. Any suggestions?

I have 3 pulleys on the car. Inside goes to fan/pump - Middle to A/C - outer to P/S pump. The A/C (middle) spins freely when car is shut off. Is this an assembly or is it one unit. Is each pully dependent of the others (keyed?)

Hello guys. I have searched ,and didn't found the info i need about a '79 280zx manual flywheel. I am currently rebuilding my Zx and looking at a used flywheel as i can't afford a new one . Mine is now missing a few teeths, because of a faulty starter, but she stills on the car. I got a guy near me that got a Bunch of z and zx parts but he don't remember which part goes on which car.... So i whould need to know what is the diameter and how much teeths a '79 l28e manual flywheel have. if you had a pic of it it whould be awsome and if you have any other idea how i could know if it's the right one for my car, dont hesitate. Thanks a lot.
