I am working on installing a early 280zx engine into my 76 280z (threw a rod). (N47 head, N/A, had power steering and injector cooler fan) It has a power steering pulley on the crankshaft. It has bolts holding it on, but there doesn't seem to be much room to remove these bolts while the pulleys are still on the engine. I need to remove this outer pulley for fan clearance. My 280z fan won't install with this pulley in the way. I'd like to not remove the crankshaft bolt. Also, will this pulley even come off after the 6 bolts are removed? Or is there a large washer behind the crankshaft bolt holding it on? Would removing this pulley afftect the spacing o…

Hi, Does anyone know where i could get a set of pistons (12010-P7917) and rings (12038-P7910)? Everything i have read says these Nissan parts have been discontinued and I am just looking for a good replacement. Thank you for any assistance. Clay

Just bought a 1987 Nissan 300zx n/a. I love and its a well preserved car. I did some maintenance work on it and discovered this empty reservoir. I thought it might be windshield washer fluid but the car already has 2 reservoirs. (Headlight and main) I have a picture pointing to the reservoir (not my engine Google helped me as I'm working). I hoping someone can help this noobie out

Hi I picked up a 79 280zx the car runs great then about 30-40 mins into driving it starts running really rich and you cant go anywhere if I rev the motor to 3200 rpms I can get the car to go if it falls below you have to catch a sweet spot with the pedal a little over 1/4 throttle it seems to smooth out but if you give it more it starts popping and wanting to die if you shut the car off let it cool down it will start and run fine until its warm or that 30- to 40 min mark I also noticed the idle when your driving and come to a stop push the clutch in the motor stays at 1700 rpms for 5 plus seconds then drops to 600 rpms I dont know if thats right ive never had or been in a…

First time posting on these boards. I've long read the messages here that have helped solve a ton of issues with my love/hate relationship that I've had with my 83 non turbo ZX. I've owned the car for 10+ years, but sadly, I let the vehicle sit for about 5 years or so due to the incredible money pit that it quickly became. For some reason, I did not learn my lesson and have begun working on it once again. I have a '72 240z into which I swapped a 5-spd from a 280ZX of indeterminate year. I took the stock shift knob from a '72 4 spd, went to screw it onto the 5 spd and it wouldn't fit. I kind of forced it while turning 10 or 15 times and it "felt" like it grabbed, but a quick 2-3 shift this morning popped the knob off and onto the passenger footwell. Frustrated, I took a spare shift knob from my former RX8 (M10x1.25) and it fit perfectly. What gives? I was under the impression that all of the non-T5 5 speed gearboxes had the same shift knob threading. This is most certainly not a T5 gearbox. Anyone else run into this before? Ok, I haven't done a valve adjustment since I bought the car which was roughly 9 months ago. I purchased it from someone who had been working on it and it was in pretty good shape. Today I go to adjust the valves and when I lift the valve cover, I notice the Pivot lock nuts are much bigger than any manual said they should be. I haven't been able to find an L28et that looks similar to mine with the cover off. Maybe I'm not looking at it right but I thought I would ask before I started loosening the nuts. Also there aren't two nuts like the manual says, just that one lock nut. I also tried to get the feeler gauges through just to see If there was any clearance. and I could…
