I know this is probably a boring read for all you veteran mechanics but I'm real happy with my progress. Got all the internals out of the block and is at the vat shop awaiting baptismal into the Holy Water, then a honing. A fresh spray or 3 on the block, black I'm thinking, no show car just a drivable Z. Put it in a trash bag until I can afford the fresh parts to build it back to stock. Disassembly was real easy, no FSM, but the reassemble will leave some greasy fingerprints on those 500 pages. I wish there was a way to make a living out of 35 year old cars, but they're ain't unless you have a reality show. It really is the personal saisfaction of knowing sometings …

I've been stressing this for 2 months now. Had good compression but couldn't clean and paint what I wanted to with the motor still in. I had decided to leave the block in and enjoy driving it for a while. But I don't do very well in the cold months so I figured a good project would keep me from going crazy this winter. So I decided to rebuild the motor and clean up the engine bay over the winter and have the car painted this spring. Would have never thought I could do this by myself but after reading hundreds of post and asking for advice and tips on the removal I finally did it, by myself, and it was very easy. Thanks again to all.

Hey Z lovers, I finally got something else accomplised with my Z. Replaced both axle seals, pinion seal, and cover gasket on my R200 3.90. Was a garage find at a previous Z owners house, and didn't want to chance the Seals being hard. Cleaned up and repainted. Next is to find a 280z mustache bar to let this go in my 73. Bryce

Well the gang just couldn't resist one more drive before the white stuff comes, and the forecast for Saturday was looking mighty fine. So off we went. For those of you who don't know the area, Calgary is just 30 or so miles East of the Rocky mountains, so this is always a great destination. We took off for Kananaskis country. Google it, you'll love it. In proper Canuck fashion, we ran across a small snow storm at the highest pass (Highwood pass, 7200 ft). Road was just wet. Temp around 2C, (35F). 15 minutes later it was +14C and sunny. Typical stuff here. Anyway, enjoy a few pictures of the fun!

I purchased the car as a shell for 500$ with the intent of it being a "fun car" complete restoration is out of the question budget wise, so we went a different route. The car is mostly track driven, so the paint job was to be done on the cheap. I wanted it flat black, but didn't want to spend $500 or more on a paint job (both of my fathers air compressors are down) so after a long night of drinking we came up with the idea of chalkboard paint, did some research and this stuff lasts out in the sun, and its incredibly hard after 20$ and a trip to home depot, i finished with this: i had to tip my hat to crazyoctopus, i learned alot from reading his blog so for a grant …

Folks, Actually it was yesterday that I investigated why my rear defogger fans weren't working. Traced it down to the defrost switch (The built-in grid no longer works, so I tapped the fans into the stock defrost circuit.) Didn't have an appropriate switch laying around. Pretty sure I cleaned out the switch Jan. / Feb. of this year and second time is not usually the charm with old switches. Could replace with an ugly little basic switch, but its ugly. Status: No big hurry as likely won't need it until January. I may give it another go at a cleaning but I'll also put it on the junkyard watch list. Today: Washed car at 9:00 this morning, follow-up wax to one done two …

It's been about a year since I bought my '71 240z 4 speed with 133k miles, but I haven't done too much to it so I'll try to keep y'all up to date. Please, any suggestions are welcome. That being said, here are some pix from the day it showed up at my door It wasn't long before I started tearing into it You can probably tell, but as I started to tamper with the wheel wells, I found rust at first, but as I dug deeper, I found an existing repair panel. It goes up to about an inch from the body line and was riveted. My new repair panel will be welded, since I have access to just about every type of welding known to man =)
