I got to admit the stars must be lined up correctly because I've had the most unbelievable opportunity offered to me. Many of us dream and acheive of restoring a 240Z, well, I have manage to stumble into buy 2 1971 240Z in Texas hence the reference "Texan Twin". Both of these cars have number matching motors, 1 car is an AZ car, other car is Southern Cal. car, both have no rust, Type B trans for both, (1) 5 spd trans, plus over $9,000 in new parts. Both cars are ready for prepping for paint just need to do the final surface work. My daughter (11yrs) and I will leave for Texas on her last day of school for the summer to pick them up. Our jouney will start out from Wiscons…

Since the struts came in the mail yesterday I opened the FSM and read up on replacing the cartridges. Everything in the manual is spot on with the exception of rear struts. I disconnected the axle, brake line, upper side of the sway bar and parking brake cable. Removed the three nuts on the top of the strut then used a 2x4 to pry down on the lower control arm. The strut popped right out and hit me on the arm.........ouch..................but I didn't have to remove it completely from the car. I just attached the spring compressor to the unit while it was still attached to the control arm and changed out the strut. Easy. I used a bottle jack to inch the strut back into th…

After throwing the Z together last year for Zcon and driving it 3000 miles last summer, I realized i had things to improve on. 1)leaking rear mail 2) raw fuel smell 3)exhaust fumes 4) Install wideband sensor 5) fix rear tire rubbing 6) repaint exhaust 7)figure out whining noise rear end as you can see I had pretty big list to do over the winter. Well the good news is I drove the car today and I couldn't be happier. 1) jury is still out on the leak-not enough miles 2)raw fuel smell was a pinhole in my filler neck to the tank-welded it and fixd the problem 3)Found some pinholes in my exhaust and welded them-less exhaust in the car!!! 4)Intsalled wideband and n…

Say hello to Daisy, she's a 1977 280Z, coupe, 5-speed manual, I believe ALL original except she's been re-carpeted and has an after-market stereo system in. Ok so I've been talking to a few of you guys and said I'd get a picture up tonight however the sun was setting so I snapped a couple pics before it did. She got hosed off before we took her home so she's not as completely filthy as she was but she won't get really washed till tomorrow! Here she is! YEEHAW!

It took about 2 hours but I got the Honda Blower Motor installed today. Had to take out the glove box and some other items but wasn't too bad. Had to grind away some metal on the blower motor housing but not too much. I bought the motor at a salvage yard for about $15, this included the fan. The rubber seal on the motor was still good so I just reused that to seal to the airbox. It was a little but of a stretch but if you clock the Honda motor right the Datsun harness plugs right in. I am going to get some foam tape that you would use on your door or something to seal up the center air divider to the evaporator plastic housing to make sure I don't have chilled air g…

Well it was time to drop in the new motor. This is my street motor, N42 w/ flat tops, E88 with larger valves, C-grind cam, and all the other regular goodies. Got it in just before the rain.
