I spent most of the day stripping my silver '71 in prep for paint. I am figuring it will take about two or three weeks to get it ready ( Unfortunately that usually means four to six REAL week). I should be able to finish the part strip tomorrow (Friday) and then begin sanding and rust repair. The one glitch I ran into was the front and rear glass removal. I was thinking I could get a glass company to come and remove them for me for about $40. Unfortunately, the first place I called wanted more than double that amount to remove the front and rear glass.:disappoin The second place said they don't work on old cars. So, I think I will read some of the treads here …

I don't know the proper name for the rubber coated strips of metal welded to the inner fenders that fold around the electrical harness and hold it in place. I had always thought they were some special metal, but I am beginning to believe they are light gauge steel coated with rubber. Well the problem is they like to break right at the bottom. Has anyone made any replacements or are they available any where? If not does anyone have any ideas for fabbing some up? On a side note they appear to be differnet in my 73' 240z versus the earlier cars. Thanks, Charles

hi guys, I am havind a bit of an issue here. I have a 1975 260z with turn signals on the bumper. but i want an airdam with the 240z turn signals in it. I understand that when i buy a 240z airdam it wont fit my 260z front. Is this due too the difference in valences?do i need 240z valences with room for the turn signals then? Or cut a hole in my 260z ones make the 240z airdam fit my 260z valences? So what do i have to do to instal a 240z airdam with 240z turn signals on my 260z. thank you

I'm new to the restoration process and was wondering if anyone can suggest a repair method for torn rubber fillers on the top and sides of my front bumper? Is there an adhesive and backing material that might be used to support and reinforce the material? New parts don't appear available in the catalogs I get.

I need some advice. I have found a number of posts that say you can bolt the 72 bumper mounting brackets on the 73. I now have a mint 72 front bumper and clean 72 mounting brackets. The posts say the threaded holes are on the 73 for the 72 mounts. I removed the 73 bumper mounts and do not see the mounting holes for the 72 brackets. There seam to be some sheet metal plates (welded on) that that guide the 73 mounts. Do i have to pull them off the exposes the threaded holes for the 72 mounting brackets?

Hey I'm wondering if there is an official paint thread anywhere on here? I've seen one stickied on another forum but I'd love to have a thread on here with primarily different paint jobs on Z's. I've been thinking of just getting my Z repainted with it's original job but I see so many flashy and nice paint jobs I'm getting an itch to step out of the box. Anyhow If we don't have a thread already then maybe this can be it? Post pictures of Z's with new paint jobs (or old I suppose) and preferably include paint codes if possible and or names of paints.

Hey All! I have 2 1971 240z I want to want to get dipped and e-coated. I know there is a vendor in IL. but would like to keep my business in state if possible. So, does any one know of a vendor here in Wisconsin that does car dipping? There are plenty of sandblaster's but that is not the route I want to go! You can either reply through here for other to benefit from or you can pm also. Thank you all in advance! Newtonhubcap!

To the point, just bought my 77 280Z and the Louvers seem to be 'glued' to the hatch. Well one side isn't even connected because the lock is broken, or just missing the little latch piece. However the other side's lock works, but the louver is 'glued' down with some kind of VERY hard drying goop. I have a picture, I don't think this is stock, but maybe someone has seen this before. Anyhow any advice on it, or NOT TO's would be great. I was thinking of just tearing it off or prying the thing open and breaking the goop. here the picture of where it's glued.

I decided to have my 240z dipped instead of powder blasted, by a company in Eugene Oregon. Really happy with the results. If anyone is interested in the process, they posted before and after pics on their web site - www.metaldipping.com. Click on the projects tab. Hap

Ive been toying with an idea in my head. Id like to get some feedback if possible. The other day i removed the rear bumper from my 72 240 and was AMAZED at how good it looks without one. But i thought it would look cool to put two small vertical bars with little spacer bars to bring it out a few inches where the bumper bolt holes go, Kind of like the AC cobra. What do you guys think?

I want to buy an air damn for my 280z and having it painted and installed when I get the car repainted at the end of this year. I currently have the original bumpers but plan in getting some 240z bumpers when the opportunity presents itself. Should I still buy an airdam for a 280z or if I run 240z bumpers do I buy one for a 240Z? Thanks.
