As posted before, I'm doing a refresh on my next door neighbor's 1972 240Z. It's in the body shop now and work is progressing nicely. Had a bit of rust and more bondo from previous repairs that we expected. It's going to be british racing green, (as it was painted before). Work is being done by William's auto body. He drives a very nice, red, resto modded 240Z. In his shop there were 5-S30's, a Datsun roadster, a S32 and a 69 Camaro. It should be done by the end of the year. Pics taken today attached.

Does anyone here know if the lower radiator support member is available after market? This is spot welded in and makes up the front cross member that completes the "box" at the front end. Thanks for any input.

I just ordered these bumpers from the Harrington Group http://www.groupharrington.com/en and they arrived Friday. Total time from order to arrival was 7 days. The communication from the sales guy (Thy) was super. There is a time difference as they are based in the UK and manufacture out of Thailand, however when I sent an email I had a reply the very next morning. The bumpers normally come like stock 240 bumpers with the rubbers installed and with the front license plate bracket, however I requested no rubbers, no holes, and no brackets. This was no problem and they indicated that they do custom request all the time. Anyway, I was very pleased with the bumpers. I've tes…

Alright, I am so close to being finished with "REFRESHING" my 72 240Z. I pulled the bumpers and media blasted the interior portions and then POR 15 the insides to make sure I never have rust problems. I was ready to put on the new exterior rubber trim pieces and noticed that the rubber pieces (that go between the outer bumper brackets and the fender - keeps bracket from scratching paint) were shot and had one missing. I have access to Nissan microfilm and found something that looked like a "shim" - called Nissan and they said "NLA". Any idea if these "shims" (if I have identified the right part) are available as "aftermarket" or have some of you crafty guys used "othe…

I need to strip the paint off my taillight surround. Do you think glass media in a blast cabinet would be too harsh on the plastic? I was thinking of turning the pressure down real low and testing a spot on the back of the panel.

I began tearing down my Z and decided to remove the front fenders. I noticed that underside of both fenders the undercoating was peeling and under the undercoating rust was all beneath it. The passenger side was a little worse being that rust was on the outside also. I think I can save the driver side after I clean the undercoat off and apply some rust bullet or por and recoat it. Not so sure of the Passenger side. Overall I thought the amount of rust wasn't too bad under the fenders. What would you guys recommend?

Used box tubing to fabricated my frame rails.Added plate for support at crossmember mount and sway bar mount.Threaded rod for bumper mounts. Now ready to be closed up with inner fender sheet metal. The other side is finished. This part is fun, removing old stuff was a dirty job! More to come as progress continues......Roger

Hello All, On my 72 the right side taillight trim panel has broken clips at the bottom. Has anybody found a suitable alternative to attach the panel without falling off or looking incorrect? Thinking of welding an L shaped metal tab where they used to be and pop riveting the bottom on before sliding the top over. Any ideas would be helpful. Thank you, Jeff
