Hi all, I have a leak in my exhaust and have to pull my manifolds ('78). This seems a good time for cosmetic improvements. I considered polishing out the intake manifold, but that's a whole lot of work (as it is sand-cast), and polished aluminum really takes a beating here on the coast. Instead, I think it would look great with a painted finish, something like this: http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/intake/normal_throttlelink2.jpg I'd love to see other pictures about how this might be done. I have the less attractive '78 manifold with the webbing between the ports. I suppose the webbing is a practical thing, keeping more of the exhaust heat off of the injectors. I w…

Original windshield on my 73 need to be replace. While MSA replacement seems close to original, price is a bit steep for my pocket. Anyone can recommend a cheaper option that can be ordered online ? Blackdragon ?

My car is in the process of being painted. The underside has recieved undercoat (colored to match the 918 paint). The front wheel wells have not received any undercoating-- I am asking for trouble by just leaving these sections painted only?

My 2nd week of putsing around with the 260Z, and it just gets more fun and I'm still sane. I started yesterday by taking out some really easy carpeting that was rotted, plus I looked it over to plan my next day. So I wake up today and know that I'm going to be washing the car. It's spray painted black, but I can't stand dirty cars anyway, so I had to get all the dirt and grime and dust off that I could. It's raining, which is cool because I want the rain to wash all the gunk away as I clean the car. Eventually, I'm done washing it and let it drip dry. No point in wasting MF towels or waffle weave on this sad beast. Now on with the pics. I had the help of another Z…

Hi all, I got an interesting idea, but I don't know whether it's a good one. We all know that British automotive engineers intentionally engineer oil leaks into their engines, so as to provide a source of lubrication and rust prevention for the underbody. Right? So I'm wondering about my frame rail interiors and other largely inaccessible areas. Would it be wise to mist them periodically with fogging oil to keep them in good condition, or would that compromise the integrity of any painted coatings? I'm also wondering whether it would be good/useful to fog the problem areas inside areas like doors and fenders, where I do have a bit of rust. I think it's much too …

I'm looking for a pair of wiper arms for my 280 (1976)....without having to pay through the nose....I was also curious; is there a possibility of finding some universal wiper arms they have the auto parts store, that are the same, or are close to, the specifications of the stock wiper arms? In terms of length and all that. If anyone has any thoughts to offer, I'm all hears and would really appreciate it. John

I have decided to on the first bit of 'body work' I have ever tried (not counting refinishing my air cleaner). I am going to try to paint the engine bay fenders of my Z. They have long been scratch up from the dealer installed A/C hoses and canisters, etc. Plus it will give me a chance to really clean up the battery tray area. So far, I have removed everything from the passenger wheel well area. I mean everything but the VIN tag, I am going to leave that there and carefully tape over it. I have wet sanded the bejebus out of most of the area and I am working my way down to the frame rail. I am debating if I am going to remove the fuel lines or use a long brush to clea…

At this price I could buy OE but don't know if they are any better than the Black Dragon seals I have. I put the Black Dragon seals on last month and I have had enough of that sh**. John

So my '71 240z has a few door issues. A) Currently (or just before I removed them) I had to PICK UP my door to shut it. Driver's side only, as it's much worse than the passenger side. It would sag 1/4-1/2". I was thinking this is a hinge issue, but I'm not sure. That's a lot of sag... Might be the door itself. I don't know. I don't really remember but I think this started after changing doors. The bottom of the door, when the rest of the door is aligned properly, sticks out maybe a little under a half inch from the body. I can stick my finger in the gap (see pics). I thought the door might be twisted so I put on a spare door. Same problem as before. C) I pretty much…

I'd like a set of blue Lemans stripes for my 260Z racecar... you can find Lemans stripes all day for American muscle cars, but I can't find anything for a 260Z. Any ideas on where to look? If I can't find a kit, I'll just take the measurements and order the next closest thing I can find then modify them. But it would sure be nice to find someone who manufactures them specifically for the 260Z. Thanks for any ideas.

I just replaced the hatch with all new Precision seals on my 240Z after painting. I have replaced 240Z hatches before and never had a problem, but this time the hatch sits high such that it doesn't line up with the body. Looking under the hatch from the rear I can see light between the rubber seal and the hatch. The top of the hatch lines up with the roof, but the aft end of the hatch surface sits above the body line about 1/8". Could it be the Precision inner and/or outer seals causing the problems? Any ideas? Speaking of seal problems I had problems with both MSA and Black Dragon hatch seals. The channel for the SS center strip was deformed in the corners on the MSA s…
