Hi, I am attempting to assess the damage to my 240z. I bought it some 12 years ago and am now, again, looking to go thru a few rounds of restoration/upkeep. Issue #1: The front passenger fender has been replaced (other blue, behind my otherwise off white z). Evidence of a collision. Also, noted on the passenger side, at where the front tie rod goes into the frame, the (female) mount, that is part of the body, is cracked and poorly welded as a repair. This damage never seemed to affect the driving, but after discovery, I vowed to properly repair: put on laser frame rack, to check/repair, clean out/up poor welds, reweld. Issue #2: The engine rests on the frame with wash…

I have a bumper from a 72 240z which im going to swap my stock 75 280z bumper out for. Ive done a lot of research and have the knowledge of the procedures you have to go through (fuel tank lowering, etc.) to complete such a task. But my question is, once that 240 bumper is on, and completely mounted up, and everything is put back into place, is it the same procedure to remove it later as well? Im trying to figure out if i need to get the chroming, etc. done before i attempt to mount it up, or can i do that later without going through all that crap again. Thank you.

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but i'm not to successful with my search. I noticed with my turn signals for my 71 had different bolt spacing for the mounting studs and one lens is longer then the other. So what year corresponds to what lens. One of my turn signal fits airdam perfectly(bolt spacing), the other side is more narrow on the spacing. I'd love to have a matching set, but not sure what year to get for the wider spacing.

I recently had the bumpers on my 1973 240Z straightened and chromed by Denver Bumper Works. The bumpers look great but the front bumper does not fit! Basically, it looks like the bumper mounts are too close together. On the bumper the inner two bolts are 25" apart but on the car the corresponding holes are 26" apart. The bumper brackets on the car look straight and unbent so I suspect that DBW messed up the spacing of the bolts on the bumper. Can someone confirm the bolt spacing on the front bumper?

Hey guys, Just got my first z (and first classic car) a few weeks ago. I've worked on old tractor restorations with my dad when I was younger and I've always wanted to get my hands on old car to work on. As always though, should be careful what I wish for. The car has a LOT of rust. But hey it was cheap and I've got time and money to play with it, so I'm gonna go to it. Now the question I have for you guys is about replacing what I call the "inner" rocker panel. (The part behind the rocker panel with the even holes spaced along the length of it that floor pans attach to on the outside.) There's rust kind of all over in what appears to be the standard spots, mostly j…

Just bought another 71 model last week, needs a little bit of work before I get it ready for paint. The biggest issue I have is... a roof had collapsed on it from snow load, only a couple minor pings here and there... but, the roof had a lot of snow hit it and the form of the top of the roof has been compromised. It is not bowed way down, but pushed down in 2-3 spots hard enough that the roof shape is not right. I could post pics if you want me too. Also, there is a sunroof in this one, which is the only thing I don"t like. Looking for options to deal with the mal-formed roof... thanks. 1971 w/auto, my first car in fall 1982, still have it. 1971 w/manual, just bought last…

so I am going to start rust removal on my 280 soon so far I have a replacement hatch and tabco doglegs are on the way, I still need to get some other repair panels including the hatch deck. Anyhow I plan on spot priming the repairs as I go. so my question is what paint/primer brand have any of you used and where in seattle would I find a paint supplier, I haven't painted a car in about 20 years (I'm getting old wow!).

I do like the BRE replica wing I have on my Z. Really fits the car. It was installed by the dealer according to my paperwork. One question though. I miss not having the 240Z/Datsun emblems on back of the trunk lid. When the factory added the deck lid spoiler, did they remove the emblems? Is there a correct way this config should be? With / Without emblems?

I don't have a picture just yet, but there are two circular holes, both in slightly raised squares of metal on either side of the spare tire bowl on the floor of the trunk. Do I need grommets for those holes? I dug through MSA trying to guess what they might be called but didn't find anything obvious.
