Has anyone heard of and/or have any experience with a product called Boom Mat? It's a spray in sound deadening material. Here's a link to the website: http://www.designengineering.com/category/catalog/boom-mat-acoustical-products/boom-mat-spray

Hi Folks, I am hoping to get some help from the community on the restoration of my Series 1 rear bumper. The first question that i have is: Is the rear bumper from a '71 exactly the same as the rear bumper from a '73? ...size wise? ...are the bumperette's in the same position? ...are the brackets in the same position? Differences? Next, Does anyone have detailed measurements of a '71 Series 1 rear bumper with bumperettes and the rear bumper overbar? Pictures and measurements please? Thanks, Auzziez.

Just picked it up. Looks great. Still needs to go back to the shop for sanding and buffing on Tuesday but I am happy with the job. It was a little cloudy today but I couldn't see any waves in the body. Better pictures tomorrow in the sunshine and then more after the buffing...

any tricks or ideas on fixing a leaking door seal. It leaks at the bottom back corner of the door, or is it a better idea to just replace it.

Goodies came in the mail today from tabco. body work will start soon. I am not really impressed with the quality of the panels, soft details, some small dings and they need trimming. I think I will only use the lower portion and I will need to grind out the little notch at the very bottom, but I think they will work out nicely with some finesse and a little hammer work.

I want to fit a 240 grille onto my 280. Would the bracketry be the same or would it be a custom job? I know that the turn signals would have to be accommodated for.

In the area under the rocker, behind the dogleg and directly below the forward door frame, there are parts of the body panel that terminate there that basically form doublers and pockets. I am working on repairing that area and wanted to ask if anyone has cut these pieces off and left them out. I am not talking about anything structural as these are welded in place above the area I am talking about cutting out. I will try to post pictures later but I figure enough people have repaired this area to know what I am talking about. Thanks.

I'm assuming there's a seal that should go between the fuel filler tube and the floor of the trunk, I can see daylight through there and I'm sure that's not helping my fume problem. Also, what's the smaller seal to the left of the tube? Hopefully they can be replaced, but if not, does anyone have experience in using gasket material or something else to make things work?

Not sure if any 240-series cars had hatches fitted with strut mounting holes on both sides, but mine has this feature. If not, it's had its hatch replaced at some point in its life. Of course, there's no mount for the strut bracket on the passenger-side body of the car. I picked up a working passenger-side strut and brackets from a local parts yard off a 280z just in case it would fit (while out looking for other stuff). Has anyone mounted a passenger-side bracket on their 240z to use both struts? Seems like it would be a nice perk to have two struts there.

Has anyone here installed the inner window fuzzies onto the door panel? I saw some old posts that talked about potential fixes but nothing definitive. The original ones were stapled on with a very heavy staples. The squeegees were attached to the outside stainless piece in the same manner. Is there an adhesive that will remain attached?

If a body seal is still good, can it be peeled off its adhesive and reused? I'm asking generically, like in the instance of having a shell repainted or something of that nature.
