Panel gaps

I am preparing to paint my 1976 280z. I am doing panel alignment and fitment while the body is still in primer so I can make adjustments if necessary. I am looking for some panel gap numbers from people to get an idea of the ranges. Even better if you have done your own panel fitment and adjustment. A maximum and minimum if possible for each spot. Looking for gap measurements on: Fender to hood Fender to door Door to quarter panel Hatch to body Thanks in advance

The driver side door hinges on my 1972 240z were beyond shot. The door had significant drop when it was opened and this presented all kinds of problems. A rebuild is in order! This has been covered a few times but wanted to share my experience with rebuilding my 240z's door hinges. I used Vernon Husk's write up on Atlantic Z to get a good idea of what I was getting in to. It can be found here -> http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/body/doorhinge/index.htm I did not like the nail head pins Vernon used so I purchased a set of pins and bushings from Leon Cutajar in Qrendi Malta. He sells them on eBay for $50 pair shipped and they take a few weeks to g…

Is there a gasket or seal between the "headlight case" and the front fender? My concern is metal to metal contact.

What are these tubes for? At first I thought maybe for air release when the hatch is closed but I thought that's what the holes behind the C pillar emblems were for. Car is a 1976 280z that I am getting ready for paint and if these don't serve any purpose for me I'm going to cut them off and weld closed. I am using a plastic Camaro fuel tank if that matters.

Trying to mount a Xenon air dam and I'm sure the flat part of the air dam that mounts just under the grill is suppose to be level but mine is pointing up in the air at about a 25* angle, is there is trick or do I have to make a brace or something to force it to level out? The sides of the air dam where it mounts to the fenders and sugar scoops are level and fit well. Thanks,

We have a 1973 240z. Both Doors have these holes. Does anyone know what they are for? Would appreciate any insight you can offer regarding the three holes between the door hinges. Thanks in advance for your help.

I found this thread on hybridz and thought I would give the Kia Sportage door weatherstip a try. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=153925&highlight=sportage I bought new. It works great! Looks close to stock. No door adjustment needed. Very nice.

I am painting my 280z and will be replacing every piece of weatherstripping on the car. I am going with Vintage Rubber front and rear windshield gaskets since I want to go 'Cal style' without the stainless trim. I am also going to use Kia Sportage weatherstrip for the doors and hatch. I believe these are the most critical seals on the car and people have had issues with some brands. But for the rest of the car, I am wondering if it's worth paying a premium for Vintage Rubber, or if the cheaper seals on Zcardepot (Precision?), or another vendor are totally fine Any comments welcome.

I have a 1973 240z and I am looking for an outlet to purchase the weatherstip that goes on the outside of the quarter glass. This would fit between the Door Sash and the quarter window and be mounted on the quarter window. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I found a little rust on the batter shelf. What can I do to fix this and make sure it doesn’t spread in the future? There is a plastic container under the battery, but 52 years of use some acid got on the metal. Also, what is the best way to clean up the white acid stuff on the battery and around the engine compartment? Some of it fell off the battery onto the firewall and below? I am struggling to get the passenger door to close fully. It seems like it only catches to the safety point but never fully closes. I adjusted the door striker in every which way but can not find a position to make this work. I removed the weather stripping as well to rule that out as a possible cause. The door seems to line up when I close the door. Can anyone shed some light on what I should try to do next? IMG_5250.mp4
