I recently got my first Z from States. Windows were secured with blue tape (very fragile tough) during transportation. So my problem is how to remove it without damaging paint. I've tried warm water and soap but results were poor. Also im having a bit of a situation with emblems. Seems like the PO has closed almost all of the emblem pin holes whilst the car was painted. And i only got emblems with pins. So should i try to make those holes or just cut the pins off and glue them? If with glue, what kind of glue do you recommend? Also i need to know how to locate exact position of hatch "240Z" and "DATSUN" emblems. Sry for my noobnes.

Has anybody purchased Charlies (zedd findings) Floor support rails? Can you give me a review of them? He says that they are replicas of the originals. My idea of a replica is that it is undetectable from the original. Would that be accurate? Thanks, John

Hi there, Could somebody post a couple of pictures of the door latch mechanism? I am talking about a picture of the door showing the outer latch parts and a picture of the body where the door latches to. I need to get together some parts and don't have my manuals to consult. I think the body side has a C shaped latch thing and am not sure what the door side looks like. I appreciate all the help and advise. carl

So I have a few problem areas on my 260 2+2 that I want to fix ASAP. The PO replaced the floor and freshend the rest of the underside several years back. Unfortunately the shop that did the work did not do such a great job around the perimeter. The problem spots are the lower doors, rockers, lower rear quarter and the lower portion of the front fenders...behind the wheels. I am not in a position to restore at this point. What I want to do is fix these areas and leave in primer until I can restore properly. The question is what body parts from the coupes match up with the 2+2. I've always thought that the car from the door forward (including the door) was the same. I…

I did some searching but must be doing something wrong. We are getting ready to start putting 9070 back together and I want to have the areas that are supposed to be black done before we put the windows in. So does anyone have any pix of what is supposed to be black ANYWHERE on the car, front, rear around windows etc. Much easier to do it now than try to touch it up later. Thanks in advance, Richard.

I have a '77 280Z S30 never wrecked, but the doors won't close in cold weather without slamming them 3-4 times. They bounce back and the lock mechanism does not catch. In weather over 60 degrees this is never a problem. I have cleaned and lubed both door locks. The locks work without a problem when "tripped" with a screwdriver shaft with the door open when I test them. Is it a problem with the door rubber or the bumper blocks at the bottom of the door opening to the body. I am confused. Any thoughts? Dave

After all these years of driving my 280Z I'm getting tired of having only one little outside mirror. Before I start looking at aftermarket dual mirror sets I'd really love to find a Datsun Dual Racing Mirror Set. The two attached images below show the Datsun mirrors I'm looking for. The Datsun part number is: 99990-00113. I'd love to get a NOS set but I hold little hope of that. Does anyone know of a set on a pick-a-part car that are in reasonable shape? I have been researching the past couple days the possibility of wrapping my car instead of painting it. I have looked at alot of photos and videos by googling the subject and it is interesting. A roll of Oracal, (comes in 15 metallic colors) is around $600. Of course there is a learning curve on installation but much less so than painting it myself. The photos Ive seen are impressive, the life of the product is 8-10 years for "normal" driving conditions. Does anyone have any thoughts, experience on this?

Thanks for all the help on my last question. I forgot to ask this one as well. The body shop guy wants to paint the interior with a sound deadening material. Something to coat the interior of the doors and such to keep the rattles and noise down. What do you guys think? carl

I am planning to paint my 240Z and needed some help putting together a good paint supply list. Like everyone else I am trying to get the best bang for my buck. please QC my supply list and provide some good direction. Also am i missing any key ingredients? Hey everyone, So the issues continue with my car and the body shop guy. So, his latest excuse as to why the car hasn't been painted in the last year is the fact that he hasnt had the headlights. He does make some sense in that with the headlights in place, he can then mount the headlight scoops and I wont have to take them off later to put the headlights in place. The problem is..... I dont have the screws to mount the headlight units in place. What type of scews hold them in place? Are they screws that screw into the body or are they just a screw and nut? Does that make sense? I find myself wanting to scream with the lack of progress and feeling like I have to spo…
