I just finnally looked under my 70 240(sitting in garage for a year) My floor pans are in pretty good cond. I have a small hole on the pass. side directly above the seat mount. It carrys through the floor pan and to the frame rail. The frame rail is rusted out basically about 6-8 inches from where it ties into the pan and stops. Can I do the POR-15,floor pan restor kit from motorsport or should I get a new rail? I want to do it right but not go overboard! Andy Woodland Ca

I'm thinking about putting a rear BRE spoiler on my 71 resto. I don't know anything about how they are attached etc. Are they bolted on to the tailgate and if so what keeps water from entering the bolt holes and rusting the metal? Do you think the juice is worth the squeeze? I like the look!

After following the work Arnie had done to his car, I thought I would give it a try.:nervous:I removed the roof skin that had a sun roof and replaced it with one from a donor car. It went very well and only a day to complete. The first photo is of the sunroof on the car, second one is with the skin removed and the third is the "new" skin on the car. All that is left now is the rocker panels, floorboards, lower rear 1/4's, small parts of the firewall, spare tire well, and front rails.

Well, she has been in the body shop for 375 days and finally today I got to see what 110 Red / 72000 PPG looks like. That was her original color until somebody decided to paint burgandy overtop of her and then spray gray primer on top of that. What an incredible group of knowledge this site has to offer. I have been looking/reading/learning and trying to incorporate as much as I can myself with the support of this car club. Just a big "thanks" goes out to all of you. I should have the car out of the body shop hopefully this coming Monday, then off to the glass shop, then back to my man cave to get the interior back in. I'll post again once the Z gets re-assembled.…

...Purely speculative and to further my curiosity/knowledge, as I don't plan on doing it to my car, but will the taillight surround from a 2+2 (with the two little fake vents) interchange with a two seater? Always thought it was an interesting look at any rate... Only recently discovered that it was stock to 2+2s rather than aftermarket

Ok so not to sound TOO stupid but I'm starting to fix up my '78 280z that I bought for close to nothing, I might add-- and although the body is in halfway decent shape, there are a few little spots in the hood where the PO just painted over. I'm not planning on going back to the stock color #510 which is like light blue i think... currently car is like teal or something PO was on CRACK so I'm looking at like a midnight blue or something My question is this: What is the best way to prep this car for repainting? Current paint is finished although not glossy - looks like PO kryloned it on. Do i need to get a sanding block/air sander and just go to town on the thi…

Rust

Both my classic cars have some rust (in a perfect world I could afford to buy cars with NO rust, but hey I like old cars and fixing them myself); I've tried POR-15 before with decent results. I can't do frame offs right now. I hope I don't have to drive the Z in teh winter, but I'm young and poor so that has to be an option; Plus it has some pretty bad floor holes and holes in the rear frame( rear of floorpan) as well. What should I do for now to slow its progression? Will tranny or motor oil spray work, what about covering with rust oleum primer? POR 15 takes too long to start now with the hope of being done by winter; I do plan on 'restoring' these cars after…

The bodyshop is finally painting my Z. I went down to see it and so far just the interior was shot, no clear on it. Im going for the 110RED and I gave him the PPG single stage code for it. He got that mixed then did a color-match for the 2 stage paint. The pic of the finished Z is from ZHOME's color gallery, so I was kind of using it for reference. I know the color will look different with clear on it, and inside lighting makes it look different. But does that look a bit TOO orangey?? The pic with the battery door in it has clearcoat on the battery door, so I assume thats what the finished product will look like.

Les has found that I will need new floor pans. Can anyone recommend a good source? Has anyone used Zedd Findings floor pans? Any ideas? I am hoping to get them on the way tomorrow. Thanks JLP

Attached is an article I scanned in from a May 1974 Car and Driver. They measured the drag and downforce of different spoilers and air dams on a 240Z, and even provide performance and fuel economy improvement numbers. Very good stuff for those who are wondering whether they should add aerodynamic aids to their Zs. For example, a non-ducted Spook is a pretty good add on, as others have noted from their own experience.

Hello All, My 1973 240z has some barely noticable rust starting in the dog legs and around the rear wheels, otherwise the body and paint are in good shape, including the floors and rails, which were redone a few years back. However, those of us who live in S. FL know that the salt air means you have to attack any and all rust immediately. The last time this car was refreshed was in 1985, so the paint is getting a little dinged up. I'm considering getting it completely repainted when I get the rusty dog legs and wheel wells repaired. Yesterday, I took it to the South Florida Z Place/Collision and Custom Paint, in Ft. Lauderdale. They seem to specialize in Zs, but als…
