I am in the early stages of fitting my rear ZG flares on my 280z. I have read through a lot of install threads, most of which have broken picture links. My understanding is the best way to decide how high up to mount the flares is to remove the spring from my BC racing coilover to allow the shock to compress all the way to the bump stop. However, when I did that, I can only compress the shock up so far until the rear wheel/tire (275-50-r15) runs into the factory wheel arch. There is still a ways to go before the bump stop bottoms out. But it's extremely hard to measure the distance remaining. It's a chicken-and-egg scenario. I can't determine where to make…

Hatch Alignment Guide I have searched for a process/procedure, or guide to help me align a 240z hatch, but have not been able to find one. It may be out there, but It has eluded me. I am not a professional, just a do-it-yourselfer. I am restoring a 1973 240z. My hatch gave me a bit of trouble and this is the process that I used to achieve reasonable results. This is meant only as a guide, something that hopefully is a bit better than obvious. I think alignment is often considered daunting by some. It really is not rocket science. It takes effort, be patient, be careful, and be realistic. If you could look at a new Z coming off the line in the 70s, I thin…

Our project has dragged on way longer than I intended. It is a 1973 240Z that we call "the bucket". The car was completely stripped and has undergone a color change, and there was a fair amount of rust that had to be dealt with, so it should not come as too big a surprise that I am having trouble aligning the hatch. I have new hinges. The 240z had a single (shock absorber) lift support on the left side. The alignment of hatch at the roof line is very close, but I need more clearance to close the hatch without damaging the paint. The problem as I see it is that the hinges have a great deal of vertical play. Because the original design call for a single shock absorbe…

On the driver side i put some strong adhesive to try and get it to stay down to where it should be. It wont. it pops back up and you can see the line of black adhesive which makes it unattractive. On the passenger side i have not put any adhesive (for comparison). You can see its not going all the way down and can see the silver window roller ball. Thoughts on what to do?

Been a while since I have posted here. Lot of health issues. I do visit it often though. I have been wanting to get rid of the fiberglass cowl induction hood on my 77 280 for quite some time now. Don't know what ever happened to my original one. But, I did find a correct one for my Z. It didn't come with the hood hinges or tension springs. I did however locate a set of hinges with the springs later. I didn't know until just recently that there are 2 different sets of hinges. Looks like they changed mid year, 74.5-78. Anyone know how to tell the difference between the 2 and why the change? Or should I not be concerned about it.

So I started repairing the headlight support but the front frame piece was mangled worse than I'd hoped. I suppose I can repair/fabricate it, but this is not my area. Does anyone know of a vendor that makes them? The yellow paint is to seal up the clean metal until I get back to work on it... whenever I can carve out the time...

Hey guys, you might have seen my posts in the various facebook groups over the last couple of days, but finally I´ll post here too, after I gathered most infos about the commonly asked questions. I’ve a glass manufacturer on hand who will produce new glass for our S30 Z’s (2 seater) It will be thinner and therefore also lighter but still obtain all safety regulations including the E sign and also the DOT number. So fully street legal in Europe and the US including all necessary testing that goes with it. Some might think thinner means a weaker windshield and also a higher risk of damage due to stone chips or what not. I ask for a statement…

Greetings Z community, I'm actively looking to obtain 907 Green for my series 1 car. Somewhere along the way I was given "Ditzler 44403" and Parsons code /year DN86/72. When I went to "Finish Masters" in So Cal, Ditzler 44403 didn't show up on the computer with 1970 Datsun colors. Can anyone give me a definitive way to match / mix this color as it was back then? Any leads are appreciated. . . Best. . .
