I started into this last year not knowing how deep I would get. I will post the differences only saying that the labor was done in my garage with some coaching from the guys in the Northwest area. Also, note I am a electrician. Some one will ask which one is the new ones. I can only say all of them. I will post my experiences on the different areas in tech articles later as I have promised the guys in the northwest. 1970 240z I have owned 30 plus years.

Just finished taking my tail lights apart. I have one extra tail light and wanted to switch the less pitted chrome strip to the better assembly. So here's a question for the pundits: What type of adhesive was used to asemble the lens to the body? (I like the fact that it can be removed by heating the joint in case I ever have to replace a lens...) Disassembly of the lights was much easier than I thought it would be. Just poured very hot tap water on joint betwen the lens and grey body. With a little gentle prying with a screwdriver, they came right apart. I did snap off the retainer in back on both trying to get it apart. Then removed the chrome strips from th…

I was browsing eBay, and I saw an auction for rubber plugs that go on the hood? It says "These are located 2 on the top part of the hood and 2 on the lower part of the hood" I thought that those holes along the top were supposed to be open, no? thxZ

My window wipers arms were pretty dull and had some yellowing on them, so I sanded them with some 800 grit sandpaper to get the yellow off and them painted them back to the aluminum color. All in all they turned out well, <a href="http://s26.photobucket.com/albums/c108/76Datsun/?action=view¤t=IMG_1272.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c108/76Datsun/IMG_1272.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <a href="http://s26.photobucket.com/albums/c108/76Datsun/?action=view¤t=IMG_1270.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c108/76Datsun/IMG_1270.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket…

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to the sight but love all the great info you guys provide. I hear you talk alot about using phosphoric acid to kill rust. What exactly is the proceedure for using this stuff. I have a '78 280 completely stripped for rust repair in the rear 1/4's, doglegs, floor pans, and front frame rails. Do you have to neutralize the acid after using it. I have never used the stuff before. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Brent

Hi Guys, I've been looking for a 240Z front bumper for my 78 280Z without much success. These bumpers are either hard to find or very expensive, so I've looked at alternatives like the MSA fiberglass reproduction but I would prefer metal/steel. Anyway, I found that Blackdragonauto.com sells 260Z front bumper for $150.00. Has anybody ever use this bumber? what are the differences between 240 and 260 bumper? http://www.blackdragonauto.com/icata...ll.asp?page=22 Thanks, Rick

I think they were factory stock on some 260 & 280Z's. I'm thinking a pair of these might look "cleaner" than the MSA black pearl repros. Do you know if they are still available? Any issues installing these mirrors on a 240? Thanks, Julio

Anybody have any hints to getting that chrome windshield trim back in? When my new windshield got put in (J. N. Phillips installed - $218 total) I hadn't finished polishing the trim. So I told the installer, "don't worry about it, I'll install it when its polished". Mistake. I worked on it for about an hour yesterday, and didn't get a single piece in.

The car is in the body shop, and the guy doesnt want to remove the fenders after he got them on if he doesnt have to. I saw in the microfiche that theres an "L" shaped gasket that goes between the headlight bucket and the fender. I have never seen one before and neither of my Z's had them. I suppose I dont need them then? Also I assume the headlight (acorn) assembly with the rubber gasket on it just goes in from the inner fender side, complete as is. I took mine out 3 years ago and thats what I remember. Thanks guys, Zak

Hi all, just bought a nice 1972 240z, 12/71 mfg date. I need some advice on a few rust spot. The worst spot is the hatch spot, you can see where it has rusted all the way through (see screwdriver pic). Also, I have a quarter-sized hole on the right-hand side. The driver-side dogleg is almost rusted through. I have little to no body work experience. My questions is do these spots need full welding repair or can i use bondo/por-15 repairs. My floorpans are totally rustfree and i'm going to do a por-15 there and in the spare tire wheelwell. Thanks for any help you guys can give.
