Ok got the black pearl home, in storage since '87. every once in a while when it was windy and warm it got pulled out and washed. When he brought it back in he used a wax from a spray bottle on it. The paint is perfect but it has a haze over the whole car. I used rubbing compound o a test spot and waxed it 3 times. It looks loads better but the haze is still a factor. Thoughts on what to use to remove it WITHOUT damaging the BP stripes? Maybe a good detergent suggestion? If not it will be rubbing compound over the whole car. Mike

Does anyone know what color the oil pan was originally painted on an 1970 240Z? Mine is the same blue as the engine block but I have heard that it should be painted black. I would like to get it right before I put it back on.

What is the secret to removing a 37 year old filler hose between the gas access door and the fuel tank on a Series I 240Z? Can you remove it without removing the fuel tank? Is it removed by pulling it outboard or pushing it inboard? This tube has a molded tee on it for the tube that runs from the vapor tank to the filler. I am trying to get access to a small rust spot under the flange near the access door.

Hey guys.. I have two reproduction rocker panels that I bought for my 240z that I no longer need. What are they selling for now? I cant really find them for sale anywhere. Someone showed some interest in buying them but I don't know how much to sell them for and I don't really remember how much I paid. Thanks for any input.

Well, I'm getting ready to have my 240Z painted. I like the current grey OK but there are scratches, some surface rust, and damage to the hood that need to be repaired. This is going to require quite a bit of paint anyway, so I figured I'd be better off getting the whole car painted....that way it would be consistent. Anyway, I've narrowed it down to three colors: 1) Pale yellow....this was the original color, I can see indications of it in the interior and engine bay. This was my first choice, but seems to be a love-it-or hate-it color...I've got mixed opinions... 2) Red...of course the disadvantage of this is there are so many red sports cars around...and they seem to a…

The little bit of rust under the sound deadening pad on the driver's side floor pan was surface rust only. I was really relieved to see that no metal work is required. The body shop ground the surface rust off and is applying rust treatment and & sealer. He plans to spray the first undercoat and begin blocking the car next week. Don't have a picture of the paint panel he made, but will try to take a pic next week. The darker silver on silver looks really nice, but I want the stripe a bit lighter shade. He's going to re-spray it for my approval. Working with William, (William's Auto Body), has been a great experience Julio

I hope I am posting this in the right section. I did a search, but could not find any info on this specific issue. I am starting to tear into the 240 and need a little bit of help. The latch for the rear hatch is not releasing when depressed. I even pulled the interior panels and manually depressed the latch mechanism - nothing! I can feel the "jaws" of the latch moving, but nothing seems to be "releasing". I can feel 2 small screw heads holding the mechanism in place, should I remove these (should be fun - not much room to work). Will that release the hatch? I can also feel the clip that holds the lock button in place. I can pull that easily enough if needed. I can ev…

Hi All, I'm just about ready to send my son's 240z to my friend to do the body work but need to find the repair panels. I need to find a good source of repair panels for the front of the rear wheel well on the drivers side and the entire wheel well on the passenger side. Does anyone know of a decent source? Thanks, Mike

Just wondering what parts are available to replace with aftermarket fiberglass for my 71 240? I live near the CA-OR border on the coast so corrosin is a real problem. I did a search for fiberglass but didn't get the info I wanted. Also whre is the best place to get fiberglass parts? Any downside to using fiberglass on these things? I know the weight saving would be minimal if any, but corrosion is my biggest concern. Also one seen a Z with one piece hood, front fenders etc. Is that available and if so where? Thanks.
