I searched through a number of threads and couldn't find what I was looking for. I'm curious what type of paint was originally used on the S30s. Base/clear, Acrylic, etc?

I am wondering if anybody has the BRE spook front air dam and if they are settled on the quality. The classic datsuns air dam is made from the original BRE mold has had accolades from numerous people, but I really prefer the solid lip. MSA sells this, but I would like to know the quality and see a few pictures of them installed. This week I am looking for body shops to paint my front parts. Soon I will be rocking the OEM goodness.

  3. Hello, I'm looking for advice on an SEM product: Clear Chip Guard - Aerosol 39804 . I'm getting my 240z ready for summer driving and this year my goal is to try something that prevents all the stone chips along the running boards and rear fender from dinging up the paint. I must spend at least an 1hr per month touching up stone chips. With my tires on 7.5" wide rims and driving on clean highway and smooth roads, I still pick up quite a few small stone dings in the paint - in some cases down thru the primer to the metal. Questions: 1) Has anyone tried using the SEM Clear Chip Guard Aerosol - 39804? SEM Tech. Data Sheet: http://semproducts.com/images/tech_files/CG%20…

I just ordered these bumpers from the Harrington Group http://www.groupharrington.com/en and they arrived Friday. Total time from order to arrival was 7 days. The communication from the sales guy (Thy) was super. There is a time difference as they are based in the UK and manufacture out of Thailand, however when I sent an email I had a reply the very next morning. The bumpers normally come like stock 240 bumpers with the rubbers installed and with the front license plate bracket, however I requested no rubbers, no holes, and no brackets. This was no problem and they indicated that they do custom request all the time. Anyway, I was very pleased with the bumpers. I've tes…

Hi, My Z432 has an genuine option rear spoiler. But it is not periodically correct one. The one is for 1971 or later. Last month I have got a genuine earliest spoiler from Mr.Terashima. He is a hard core enthusiast , he has 2 Z432s and 1 Z432R. The earliest spoiler is a very, very rare to see.We sometimes see the ones but they are usually reproduction one.It is easy to distinguish, repro one does not have correct stud bolts nor brackets. Also we can see it from the outside, the 2 vertical ribs on the top face is a kind of short, lack of its length. My earliest spoiler needs to be restored,I want to do it myself. The later spoiler is improved so much in the forming…

I took my rear lens appart, and found that it was far from hi-end tech in there! No wonder it does not shine like the Christmas tree it should be. Only a dull semi-gloss reflecting surface and a lot of air… I will see if I can improve the beast, and I will let you know…

I'm about to get a new paint job on the Z and for some reason the idea of a racing stripe is stuck in my head. What's the general feeling on racing stripes? Am I losing it or what?

I seem to remember reading about replacemnt battery trays somewhere but I can't seem to find the thread. Does anyone know if this part is available aftermarket wise? If not, any suggestions other than finding a donor car (without a rusted tray) and swapping it out would be welcome. Also need a fix for front inner fender (under tray battery tray). Battery acid has a vicious appetite! Car is in great shape rust wise other than in the mentioned areas so even a pricy fix would be worth the $, but I need the parts and can't seem to find them anywhere! I'd hate to have to fab up somthig out of sheet metal, my skills in that department are not quite that developed yet. Thanks

well i just went out and bought a new 40-100 amp arc welder to learn how to weld ( i didnt have the $$$ for a mig , but what are you gunna do) Anyways i was hoping to use this welder for repairs on my Z. I was screwing around today with some rusty old exhaust pipes and some random bolts to see if i could weld at all but i seem to be havin trouble. It says to "strike" the arc but nothings striking. I can slide the stick across and make a million little beads but it wont stay "struck" so i can hold it the proper distance away from the object being welded. Any tips? i thought i set the amperage right, im using 3/32" welding rods with 90 amps of power. Maybe itl just take…

Hi All, Just finished painting and re-assembling my 1978 Black Pearl 280Z. It doesn't really qualify as a Black Pearl anymore because I used 2005 Nissan Altima, (Super Black) for my paint. But the car still has the original paint sticker with the 638 number. The car was an Arizona desert car which means rust was very minimal and I'm aware of all the places it can be a problem. I went through the entire vehicle but the body/painting work took 75% of the time involved which is why I'm posting it in this section. I've been a member for a little over a year now and have read hundreds and hundreds of posts while completing this task. The entire suspension is new with t…
