Hopefully someone can help with this... My bodyshop is asking me if I can find a 2-stage paint code for 110 red. I did find the PPG single stage code of 72000. The paint supplier he used tried to match it to a 2 stage paint chip and the color is a tad off, he wants to get it exactly. He says they can mix up a single stage, paint a panel then use that to match a 2 stage paint. Does anyone have a paint code theyve done for 2 stage that matches 110 red exactly? I'm sure he'll get a match, but I'd feel better having some info for him to confirm what he does. Thanks guys!

So I have some rust on the forward hood ledge and reinforcing piece from the hood mounting brackets back to about 7in past the front cross member. Has anyone had any experience with repairing rust in this area? from what I know it does not seem a common (although not impossible) area to have rot in it and I'm trying to get some ideas what it is going to take to repair it. Pretty much the entire area enclosed by the hood ledge reinforcing piece from the hood brackets to the cross member is paper thin and rusted through both pieces from the inside (drain was probably plugged). In the last attachment I have drawn the outline (in red) of the extent of the rust on the reinf…

The bodyshop didn't put something back together right in the doors when they did the total repaint. The door locks won't lock. With the doors closed. They never did lock when open ... But they both worked fine with I gave the car over to the body shop. They said "sorry! can't remember how it went ..." The locks are on the right sides (L and R) with the weephole and the spring in the lock facing down. I've the interior door panels off and the locks now out. Pushing down on the rods it appears to me something is preventing the "slider" for lack of a better term, from moving up and down. The plate the rods attach to, which sits on the back of the inside of the doorframe…

I'm hoping that someone can look up a good part # for me for a 73 240Z windshield. Considering the fun (NOT) that I had with my aftermarket fender I would like to drop by the dealer and give him a number and see if it's available, and since this is a Nissan dealer it would sure help to have the # in hand. Also I heard somewhere that some of the aftermarket windshields didn't fit right and I don't want to go through that nightmare with a windshield!!!

I am a real new to this stuff. Have 76z and want to get a full paint job. Anyone have any idea what this will cost? Want to use a non stock color like a black cherry red color. I'm just looking for a ballpark figure:stupid:

I can't seem to find any info on the chrome strip with the weatherstripping attached to it. Do these just pop on and off of the door sill, or is there some sort of screw I need to find before I break something? I'm looking at the chrome piece that runs horizontally along the bottom edge of the window on the doors. Similarly, what's the correct mounting of the felt piece that attaches to the the interior liner? Is that supposed to be stapled, glued, or clamped on? The ones that are in there now have little U shaped clamps that I rerouted under the old felt, since they rubbed on the windows. Thanks for any replies!

MIG or TIG 1 2

I just finished a class on MIG welding because people said MIG would better on the thin metal. I can do alright but I hear people say TIG is better. Most people I talk aren't working on a Z car. I would like to hear from those who have been there done that.

I searched through a number of threads and couldn't find what I was looking for. I'm curious what type of paint was originally used on the S30s. Base/clear, Acrylic, etc?

The body shop installed new gaskets and the rear hatch now sits a little two high. Can't take it back to THAT shop, so is there an easy way to adjust it myself? Describe step-by-step? Thank you very much!

I live in Woodland/sacramento and I am 90% sure I want to paint my z (painted houses for years)My dad left me his Z that he painted (single stage paint) however the body work was done in a hurry and now I want to start into it? I have bought books and read them through I was just wondering if anyone would be interested in being a protege/mediator/tech support befor I jump into this task? If you live in the area and have painted your z I would be interested in your knowledge and seeing what your finished product looks like. thanks Andy

So I previously painted my fiberglass air dam that I purchased from Motrosport and for the first week or so it looked great, but despite purchasing the surface prep kits that was suposed to keep the paint from cracking under the normal flexing one might encounter the paint began popping right off. I was equally confused when I began scraping it off this winter and the primer seemed very well adhered. This time I intend on doing it right because I'm painting it orange to match the rest of the car and it will be a lot more obvious if the cracking starts again. Basically the cost doesn't matter this time as long it can be done at home because I'm just that kind of girl. So …

Can anyone verify (or not) that the rear valence on a 240z is the same as the 280z. I need to replace mine and I need to know how big my shoppping list can be. I thought the hls-30 were all the same?
