Hello, It's been a long road, but my Z finally goes to the body shop for some paint and body work on January 28th. Right now I'm trying to put together all of the rubber bits, weatherstripping, etc that I will need when the car comes home, so that I can reassemble the car without having to constantly chase parts. I'm in pretty good shape, I think....I mean I've bought a Precision kit and I also have Nissan OEM door seals and welting. So I'm mostly covered. One of the rubber pieces that I'm not entirely sure about, however, is the one in the attached picture. My Haynes manual calls it a 'lower sealing rubber'. My Nissan parts guy (who is very, very good) tells me that t…

My 240z Has a leak in the windshield weather stripping and I was wondering if this something that can be done easily and who I should buy the weather stripping from, same goes for the felt inbetween the windows on the driver's and passenger's side door. This is kinda off topic but what do you guys think the best repair manual for the 240z and do they have one for individual years? Thanks!

Evening , the scraping has started big time , heat gun, scrapers and solvents and I'm making headway ,however once I have the majority of the heavy tar coating off I'm left with the factory undercoat , the light brown colored thin stuff . My question is, the undercoating is still adhered very well to the inner fender wells and my intention is to recoat the wells after all the scraping is complete . I want to seal first with something like por-15 or the Eastwood equivalent , then re-do with a gravel guard or bed liner type of protection . I did a search on this and came up with some answers , but I'm looking for more input so i can be on the right track . Btw , it looks t…

lead filling 1 2

i decided to scrap the body side moldings on my 77Z and prepped the car for paint. i would like to fill the small holes with lead and may decide to fill the hatch emblem holes as well...for a cleaner look. i'm very good at using epoxy body filler and restored a couple of cars in the past with excellent long term results. i'm just very doubtful about filling a 'flat' hole with conventional filler. i've just never had to use lead in the past... if someone has experience i would greatly appreciate it! tools required, where to find a lump of lead, procedures, etc.. Thanks!

I have a rusty shell with a good Drivers' floor pan that I need to cut out. I will also be cutting off the roof. Where should I make my cuts on this floor pan? I will be using a saws-all. I want the future owner to have as many options as possible. Thank you in advance...

The chrome on my tailight lenses, while still somewhat shiny are heavly pitted. I've looked around and don't see these available as replacement parts, and the repro lenses I've found on-line don't have them. Are these available anywhere or can they be re-chromed?

Hi guys, I may have made a post similar to this one quite a while ago, but the 260 has been sitting for quite a while. Has anyone had a positive experience with the fiberglass hoods or any of the fenders as far as fit? Also do the pin down hoods still hinge in the front and then just pin instead of latch near the firewall? thanks for the help, brian

I have a silver 78 Z. I'm looking to buy the original body side molding that was color-matched to the car. I'm not really concerned if the rubber insert isn't silver, because I'll try to get it painted. I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find one for sale. Anyone have such a thing for sale?

Time for another newbie question... What I'm really asking is: Does the BRE rear lip spoiler offer any substantial down-force / stability at normal highway speeds? I never had them on my Z's in the distant past. I'm sure there is a cost in drag with the rear spoiler, which will probably affect gas mileage. If it's not that effective, I'll just stick with a front BRE type spook. If it really helps, I'm considering adding one to my project. Thanks in advance for the input.

So yesterday I went out to eat with my family. Took my Z because I was going to go over to my girlfriends house afterwards. Well we pull up and I pulled up a little to car and the airdam slid over the parking bump. Ok so I backed up gingerly because it didn't bang or anything when it went over. Well there was a piece of rebar sticking out a 1/2" and it caught the airdam and tore it out. Alright well I didn't like how it was mounted anyways and the airdam is fine it just tore out the holes the bolts went through. I saw on Hydridz a guy who had this idea: http://fototime.com/BF9ED8490F9AC1C/standard.jpg I want to do this but I'm not sure where to mount the struts to. Can't…
