I just got a 77 to replace my 78, and the 77 runs great, but the problem is that the 77 that I plan to keep has a ton of very smal dings all over the body, especially those convex dings on the top middle of the font fenders. Now the 78 was just painted about a year ago (previous owner) and it has almost no dings anywhere, except a tiny convex ding on one of the front fenders in the same spot as the other car. My question is, I am thingking about stripping the all of the panelling that I can, including the doors and hatch, from the newly painted 78 to put onto the 77, then sell the 78 after that switch is completed. Is this a good idea, or should I leave the 78 as is …

Hey all, I used to own a blue 2+2 280Z and then sold it and now I am back with a green 75 280Z. Currently I am working on getting the interior redone. So the interior is pretty much stripped. I am currently removing the tar (using the dry ice method and its coming along well) and getting a small rust spot fixed. Here are some pictures and I have some questions. thx in advance. 1)Regarding the rust spot in picture (behind the passenger side seat) in picture 4&5 - how much do you guys think it cost for it to be properly repair? 75-150 bucks? Picture 1 & 2: My green machine <a href="http://img90.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img0813ti7.jpg" target="_blank"><…

I've looked everywhere and I can't find the new seals for my t-top. I know it's not factory installed, but the t-top says LeVan on it and I can't find the company or anyone that sells the seal for it. It's the double window sunroof. I know a few of you have the same sunroof and maybe you've dealt with the same problem, especially with the rainy season coming.

well i'm looking at a 2nd Z for my wife (i'm not letting go of the 280z keys) and its a '72 that is immaculate looking from the pics BUT has one spot of rust on the rear hatch near the latch. i guess its not on the hatch door itself but where it contacts the body...anyway i'm sure you know what i mean. what kind of repair cost could one estimate for just this area? the car is otherwise a FL car, VIN HLS3056308, '72 240Z, 4spd with L26 motor this is the best pic I have of the area in question, rear passanger side

I thought my car was 908 Orange, but the paint tag says 110, which is persimmon. It looks orange to me. The pic shows the color pretty accurately, and you can see the engine bay pretty well. What do you think, orange or persimmon?

Does anybody make a temporary primer? I've started removing the paint from the body/panels....so far no metal work needs to be done! It won't be going into paint until at least next summer/fall so something needs to be put on it to prevent surface rust. I'm not too familiar with auto body products so I have no idea what's out there.

Hello, My '71 240Z is finally headed into the paint shop. I know that I'm going to need a windshield gasket and a rear hatch glass gasket, and I'm trying to find the most economic way of accomplishing this, while still doing it right (I have genuine Nissan door seals and welting ready to install after the car comes back, so door seals and fitment won't be an issue). So I have two questions.....first, are the aftermarket front and rear glass gaskets that are available (inexpensively) through Black Dragon good quality replacements for the OEM gasket, or should I pony up the extra cash for the Nissan gaskets? Second, what other gaskets will I need? Inner hatch gasket and out…

I just completed the first of two rusted out doglegs today, cutting out the old, de-rusting, metal prep+POR-15, and fitting and welding in the new panel. Looks pretty ok to me, i'll post pictures later for better judgement by the experts. In the mean time, i'll be out working on the floors...

Got some pics for you to look at. I'm trying to figure if there is a reason why all these (six sided doublers above the rail on inner fender) peices are different. Some appear to be rivitted in, some welded, others (like my own) "look" as if glued on - others quite ragged. Has there been different processes or is this indications that there were repairs? I have looked at alot of cars and seen several different looking plates and I have been assuming that anything other than a perfect looking six sided is repair work - I've seen so many that vary from that appearance that it has me wondering if I am misinterpreting what I see. Other examples welcome. Had more pics -…

Does anyone know what the jdm version of the 280zx had for emblems? I've been trying to figure this one out for a while now with no luck. I want to change out the emblems on my girlfriends ZX but can't find japanese emblems or even know if they exist.

I have an original 240z mirror - there is only a drivers' side - that I bumped into and dimpled seriously the 'dish' piece that the glass sits in (graceful @#&@!!). The glass is good - I found another original mirror with bad glass but all else is good. How does the glass come out? I have read a post on this, where he mentions a 'flag' and 'crimp' but I don't know what hls30.com means. It is a 2 year old thread, so I started a new one. Any help appreciated...
