I need to paint my 72 240z soon and I'm really taking a fancy to the new solar orange color on the 350z. Does any one have any idea how to get a hold of that stuff, Thanks Ps If anyone is in the elk grove/Sacramento area and wants to go for a drive up 88 to check out the autumn colors let me know.

Does anyone have the OEM nissan part #s for the 70-72 front bumper and L & R mounting brackets. My local dealer says he doesnt have access to 240Z parts guide. I have searched but cant find them. I have a 1973 Z and would like to install the earlier bumpers. I believe the original 1973 ones are NLA. These will be the last parts to go onto a 2 year total restoration. Thanks, Doug

After sitting in the barn/garage for 27 years (see avitar) my car is at Painter Ray's. The flatbed came yesterday to pick it up. The driver commented this was one fast car, he remembered them for that. I followed it out to Ray's, unloaded it and pushed it in a stall. An older gentelman came over and asked what it was and I told him. He just grunted and said it "looks faster en' hell." The flatbed driver said "It is, take my word for it." A little later a 20's something delivery guy looks at it and asks if it is a 260 or 280? I told him it was a 240. He looked puzzled and said "Never heard of that one." Now for the joys of a small town. My little sis and Ray were…

Alright, I recognize that I may be a doofus for asking this question, but I'd rather look a little silly than do the wrong thing and have to take everything apart and clean it all over again. I am reassembling the door hardware and window hardware and would like to lube the window assemblies. What kind of grease have you guys used in the past? I'm hoping that there is some kind that doesn't have the stench of wheel bearing grease. Anyone help me?

Looking for a nice driver rear quarter. One without rust or damage. Please PM me if you have or no where I can find one. I am in the midst of a full restoration on my 71' and found out that the rear quarter has been replaced in the past. Not very well either. This car is going to be perfect and I want all the work to be done right!!! I am in Richmond VA and would like to find something in the midatlantic area.

Finally found a body shop to paint the Z. He actually stopped by the house to look at it to see how ready it was for paint. He spent about a half hour going over the car and showed me where I needed to spend more time. Still some low spots to fill but not too bad considering. But if painted in present condition he said I would not be happy with the car and will not paint it as is. The lip around the rear wheels will be the toughest for me. He said to take it as far as I can and he will clean it up if needed . Rough quote was about 2k ~ 3k possibly more depending if he needs to use hi build and block it. He said he has too much collision work lined up but you can tell he h…

I've decided to turn my Z into a vintage racer instead of a total restoration. Not sure on the mech. specs, but that's irrelevant at this time. My car as it sits looks to be in very good condition. It needs the gas door area cut out and I've got a replacement for that. There's some slight bubbling on the C pillars, appears to be due to bondo. Other than that, there is no rust showing. I'd rather not have to completely tear the car apart. I know I need to get the door jambs/engine bay for the color change, but as far as matching the trunk, I could care less. My question is, should I just do the minimum amount of work necessary for a color change or should I completely stri…

Well, this is the color that my Z car originally was. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1971-DATSUN-240Z-72-000-MILES_W0QQitemZ220157584258QQihZ012QQcategoryZ6187QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Currently my car is blue and it is a really bad paint job that needs to be redone. Plus I have two surface rust issues that need to be taken care of before they cancer that will rein the current paint. I have been taking samples, pictures, and what not for colors that I like and might want to put on my Z. When I popped the hood of my Z car, the orginal paint still made up the engine bay and I had thought that the mustard yellow was nasty. Though after seeing that color the…
