I've had a set of Charlie Osborne's floorpans in my garage for some time while I've been working out little mechanical issues on my 240Z (and also because I was a little leery of the expense involved with having someone install the pans). Anyway, today I finally bit the bullet and took the Z down to the welder's shop, and he's going to be dropping the old pans out of the car and installing the new pans and floor supports tomorrow. Which brings me to my next question....what are people who've done this using to plug the 'water drain' holes in the replacement pans? Are they the same size as the stock floorpain drain holes, or are they different? Can anyone shed any light on…

I had the original title to my Z in my hands, I have a photocopy of it in my glove box. The original title says white. However, the engine compartment is silver, and she has a black interior. The very faded color code sticker is still there, I managed to make out a faded 901 on it. I can also see silver paint showing in a small spot under what appears to be two different white paint jobs. It appears the original owner had his heart set on a white car with a black interior. I can just picture dealer telling him to come back in a few days to get his white car.:devious:

Thinking that there were headlight gaskets in there originaly a quick search turned up that there ARE gaskets but NLA and no one really saying what to use or what they had luck with, so I just made some out of an old inertube. First I made a stiff paper pattern of where it went (fender side) using masking tape in places to hold it. And then using razor blades to cut it out in place, keeping a good clean sharp line on the outside edge, just recesed a little below the top of the fender. Took an old inertube and cut it up so it was flat and about the same thickenss overall, 1.2 mm to 1.7 mm. Placed the pattern on the rubber, taped it down and traced it with an ink pen, m…

How common is this? The color code tag on my '73 says the code is 110, which I believe is red. However, the car is clearly 918 orange. I bought the car from the original owner, and she told me it was the original paint, from the dealer. Just by looking at the engine campartment and door/hatch jambs, its pretty clear the car was never red. There is even some orange overspray on the undercoating, which I understand is an indicator of original paint. Any idea whats up, is the color code tag just mis-labeled, and if so, did this happen a lot?

Although my car is still a ways away before i paint her, i was wondering what you guys thought about this. Right now i cant really decide between a bright orange or black. I would really like to go with orange but i am afraid of more police attention. Even tho here its full of ferraris, lambos, bentleys and the like I have only seen one other S30 on the road (Actually it was parked at a house). So that got me thinking of making the Z all black to blend in better. My only problem with that is that i live in miami where its 90 degrees in the middle of september, and my 280 has no A/C. At least i have plenty of time to decide.

Does anyone know what size those 4 bolts are that bolt the hood to the hood hinges? Im ready to put the hood on and it seems I've lost a baggie or two of bolts in the sea of parts I have in the basement. Thanks guys,

I dropped my car off on the 5th to get painted and will get it back around the 18th. So in my spare time I am going to repaint the grill. I plan on using a can of spray paint, any recommendations on what type of paint. Thanks

Where do I get/find a Rear Euro style Bumper for my 1971 240z? Do I have to turn my original one in to one by taking it to a body shop and have them weld it all together etc. or is there a place that sells them? Keith
