The weatherstrip which is attached to the bottom of the door via rivets has two different-length flanges. Based on this picture from the gallery it appears the longer flange goes toward the inside and the short one goes to the outside... ...Can anyone confirm? I thought if the longer flange was inboard it might bind against the rocker sill and contribute to problems with the door shutting correctly. And, with the longer flange outboard it conformed more to the shoulder of the rocker sill. Humble's book (p. 164) only says "...be sure to orient it correctly for a good seal." Thanks, Wick. Verrrrry helpful. So what's the right orientation? Thanks, Steve

Please see 3 attached photos. Getting ready to put one of my fenders back on, after cleaning and removing some minor surface rust. Enrique offers the following advice: You'll note that the drain tube for the cowling is right behind the fender support bracket, and the hose ends just a couple inches into the cavity. This is the source of the majority of sand and gunk behind the fender. The "drain" hole is actually the space between the fender and the inner brace on the fender. NOT a good idea and a prime rust spot for the 240 /260 / 280 series vehicles. I'm doing that mod right now, and although NOT concours it is something that will eliminate that problem. I'm running …

The Z is going into the body shop in a few weeks and I'm trying to get all the critical stuff out of the way before it happens. I'd like to get the rear bumper off before she goes in. How much of a pain is this? I'd consult an FSM if I had one. I figure while I'm at it, I'll pull off the extra rubber and collapse the shocks. ...I've used the search option and come up with 280 bumper coversions / shock collapse, but didn't find anything on doing this to 260s. I haven't seena fill screw on the 260 shocks. Do I need to drill a hole in order to do this?

I'm reconditioning the rear window louvers on my '77 and was wondering if anyone knows a good source for replacement weatherstripping for it. I don't expect to find the exact weatherstrip for it but something close I can modify to work. Any suggestions?

Hey everyone! So today begins the reinstallation of weatherstripping on my Z...Been reading and searching on where to use adhesive, sealant or both, and I've had little success in finding straightforward answers...some posts on my search query even used silicone sealant and weatherstrip adhesive interchangeably, so I'm a bit confused....:stupid: (If someone can better find answers, please point me to the thread--thx!) Which seals should get both adhesive AND sealant (silicone) and which should get adhesive only? From the FSM, the windshield gets both adhesive and sealant (seal to body and glass to seal, respectively) but after that it pretty much says only to use adhesiv…

Need help figuring out what color GREEn to paint my Z I just saw a thread with a fellow memeber here who just painted their Z 113 metallic green with green wheels and I really like that. My Z is a 260z and I'm not sure what color exactly she was originally I just know it was a green I believe it was emerald. Anyway I'm preping her for spring next year because I'm going to be driving her during that period as a gift to myself for my senior year. . [not in the rain of course] So, in the mean time I'm going to be doing some little things to her like a nice cheap paint job[FOR NOWI know Nice and cheap cannot be put together] and new brakes, suspension maybe a radio weather …

I need a new Lt front fender for a 77 280 and was wondering if anyone has experience with aftermarket vs OEM fenders ? OEM is about $384.00 with aftermarket being about $200 plus shipping. Is the fit of OEM worth the difference? Pick and pull or parts cars are not options in the Northeast unfortunately. Thanks
