i have a 73, and i took my rear bumper to be chromed. well after blasting the inside, and stipping, there isnt much left of the center section. so my question is, will a 70-72 center section work with my 73 end pieces that i already have chromed? im not using any of the rubber strips or the "bumperettes" (the u-shaped pieces). thanks todd

Does anybody know of any Zcar body shops around the Los Angeles area? I have been trying to find one to replace the back end of my 280zx and to primer and possibly paint.

She looks great. Today I saw her for the first time since last week. This is what I saw. The precision weather strip fits very very nice. The tail light panels are going to be painted the same color of the grille. The sound deadener is comming soon. I have to go to the shop to put it, but Im busy working. I hope can have some free time to do this operation before the dash rest in place.

I am getting ready to repair a few (rust?) bubbles in the paint. The affected areas are the doglegs and a small spot on the cowl, pictures are attached. I have next to nothing that I need for this and therefore need to get a shopping list together and y'alls help would be greatly appreciated. I do have an air compressor. A small stand up Craftsman model. 3hp @ 90psi / 1.5hp @ 150psi w/15 gal tank. I was thinking of buying an angle grinder but feel this may be overkill for the job. Should I just get a DA? If I do get a grinder will a 4.5" 10 amp 11000 rpm DeWalt grow with me through the rest of the restore in the years to come or do I need to shop for a 7" ? or bo…

Ladies and Gents: I know that I sound like a broken record, but each time I visit the body shop, a different part is needing to be replaced. As it stands now, I'm in need of a passenger side fender and vented hood. If anyone has a line on Grade A used or new parts, please let me know. #248 is stripped to bare metal and the body replacement process is starting. After being stripped, we found rust on the bottom of the frame rail (?) as opposed to the side like usual. Also, the fender supports in front of the radiator supports have been poorly repaired. I'm currently having to consider doing a cut from in front of the strut towers on my other Z to replace the damage o…

Just saw this on Ebay. The seller is just up the interstate from me. I've always been interested in the early cars. Hard to tell from the pictures what kind of condition this is in. Anybody have any thoughts? hey guys! I am fairly new here and to Zs as well. I am considering reaplcing/ restoring my weatherstripping since the ones on my car are all worned out/harddened. I've been running some searches on ebay but it seems that OEM weatherstripping aren't cheap especially if I want to restore the whole car. However I found a couple of kits on some websites and I don't think they are OEM. Here is one I found: http://www.blackdragonauto.com/features/z/zrs1-1975-datsun-280z.htm My question is, will this kit be a good idea or should I just save money and get the OEM parts???

I am looking at the zg flares for my Z. I just talked to the guys at motorsport and they said you dont have to cut fenders if you are not running real wide tires and rims in fact he said most people dont cut the fenders. So is this true? and if so using a 15x7 rim will it look ok or do I need to space it a little? I really dont like spacers but would be willing to do a small one like 1" or so or will my cars stock set up allow maybe a 15x8 wheel or a different off set? This is only a concern in the back for me. Thanks

Any thoughts on how to handle this? It's a classic case - all the rest of the car looks good but the battery area looks like crap. It sounds solid underneath, but to tell the truth - I half afraid to poke at it too hard. The tray is showing signs of rot through the panel beneath is just ugly. I have a few jobs in the works now and I don't feel like taking on steel replacement as well if I can avoid it. Maybe if I ignore it, it will go away The car won't ever see rain again (maybe never did befor), I wonder if it will be trouble to leave it as it is until next year. Does it need to be washed down or is that more trouble? Anyway ideas/thoughts are welcome. Rick Cali …

I'm tinting the hatch and rear quarter windows. The tint guy needs to scrape the defroster grid because it's rusty. Living in SoCal rear hatch window fogging is not a common thing. If I do remove it, I'll have to remove/replace the tint if I ever want something like it back...any sources for modern defroster grid replacements...?
