My Z has developed a few small rust bubbles under the gas door. I thought I had the rust treated before I painted the car but alas I did not. I had hoped to avoid cutting any metal out. My question is...Does anyone make repair panels for this area other than a whole quarter panel? Is the quality any good? Not that I have much choice! Also, the panel under the hatch....yea that area...does the entire rear panel need to be replaced or is there a repair for just the area that rusts? ( the flat area across the width of the car vs. the entire tail light panel) Thanks! ROOPZ

I was wondering what everyones thoughts are on this product from Duplicolor. Premixed with no recoat window and inexpensive. Without a proper garage for winter storage and less than perfect panels I can't justify an expensive paint job on this car yet. This seems like a good DIY alternative for now and I know you get wht you pay for. I am going to weld on door skin patches soon and will need to do somthing by fall. I found on my bc/cc job the lack of proper lighting and space was my biggest downfall and this may be more forgiving for an amateur. http://www.duplicolor.com/products/paintshop.html

Wazzup Z Heads...! I'm back into my resto, more details to follow (let's just say life happens)...paint's almost done now starting to get parts together for the reassembly. I need to take out the quarter windows from the frames for tinting and can't get a start on it. There's only 1 screw I see that holds the frame together but it's not budging for me. I have the hatch window out and figured with the windows out it might be easier to tint. OR is it better/easier to tint the windows inplace? I don't want to ruin the tint film during reassembly...

Hey guys, Excuse me for anything i may ask that may sound stupid, I'm just starting out with my 1973 240z. I have never had a car this old, and want to make sure this thing is strucurly (sp?) solid! I have been reading here day and night relentlessly for the past 3 days! I have read tons of guides and so forth, but I still have 2 questions. The first and formost is of course the body. I have been reading up on rusting and so forth, and where to look for it, but as to how to fix it . . I'm at a loss. I have NO welding skills (never tried or had anyone to show me) and I want to make sure that i don't miss anything. From what i have notice, there seems to be only a little…

OK deeply into the reassembly now and this is where the collective will really help. I have a box of bolts/screw/lock washers and little by little they're going back on the car but not necessary exactly where they came from. I don't have detailed pictures for these. The parts CD pictures can only show location, the detail is too low res. Can anyone describe or show me a picture in your gallery of the following: Headlight bucket mounting lock washer/washer. I think the nut is an M5 pitch .8 Fender mounting bolts/washers. Hood bumper/screws that sit in the channel of the fender. Headlight assembly mounting screws/lock washers. Turnsignal panels, they attach to the bot…

Well gang, it's being over a year since the first part of my tale was told...maybe you can see why it's taken so d### long to get it to this point. Let's just say life takes unexpected turns so enjoy EVERY moment (and always buckle up for safety...) I'm in the reassembly stage, saw my ride for the first time in several months...happy and shocked by the amount of work needed to get it back in drivable form. I'm hoping it all goes back together, found a strip of mystery chrome can't for the life of me figure out where it came from, thought I got every piece off before I took it in. I'll post a pic to see if you can help me figure it out. Like some amazing jigsaw puzzle,…

I remember that someone made a rear spoiler that goes at the top of the hatch. They were going to do some aerodynamic tests, and I was wondering if this thing was any good, and if you can find them anywhere or if they have to be homemade? It went right there and stuck out an inch or two.

Well I just finished removing the prior fix to the floor pans on the passenger side. and you guessed it, it was worse than the drivers side. Take a look at the pictures. I have received my floor pans and seat brackets from Charlie. Getting all excited about installing them. But looking at the "fire wall" area, How am I going to "fix" that area? Any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated.

I just had my bumpers rechromed (look great!) and ordered new bumper pads from Courtesy Nissan in Dallas (good supply source!). They had all of the pads except the rear guard bumper pads. I supposedly found a new set on E-Bay and bought them. They arrived today but look identical to my front guard pads I got from Courtesy. I am enclosing a picture of my front and rear guards to see if someone can confirm that they are the correct bumper guards for a 70 240Z. I am assuming that I had the front pads sent to me from the E-Bay source. I am hoping you many wise souls can assist me!

Today I decided to remove my rear bumper, just to do it-no other reason. I knew that there was some rust in there, and I figured I could clean it out real quick and spray it with rattlecan preventer, just to hold it over until I decide a couple things (bodykit or original...), but low and behold, it was worse than I imagined. The thing with bumpers is that you can't really see what is going on in the depths of the thing; so if you haven't pulled off your bumpers in a while, I would suggest doing so-perhaps you can stop the rustmonster before it gets like this. But it is more than a matter of rust, folks. You hope to never be in an accident, but should it happe…

I've had my zx for just over a year now, and the driver side headlamp has just burned out. I've searched both this site and hybridz for the answer to this little question-How do you change the lighting unit? I went through the FSM, and it appears that I need to to take off the bumper, grille, valances (valenci?), inner wheelwell protectors, and finally the headlamp buckets (sugar scoops). I have done some of this, as you can see in the photos, but am being held up by the three screws that hold the center valance to the frame (rusted in for now). Without removing the entire valance unit, I cannot get to the last two screws that connect the scoops to the fender, and witho…
