I'm a bit leery of doing this myself, but how do you guys store the windshield once it's off? I'm assuming that laying it down flat is a bad idea, considering it's curvature. WIll I need to build a stand of some sort? Is padding neccessary?

Hi all, Can some of you guys post pictures of your battery install and hold-down ideas? I'm looking into various solutions since my battery tray has been completely removed. We are considering welding in a stock tray, but, I'm not sure if that's the best idea or not. I'd like to go with an Optima battery and I doubt I'll put it in the car. I'd like to find photos of any interesting solution out there. Of course, welding the stock tray back in place isn't a bad idea..... Most cars I've seen are using the stock tray.

Hey guys, I'm trying to get some junkyard body panels to practice working on before I get on the Z. Anyone know what cars are about the same style metal? I have a 86 BMW hood and fender, anyone know how that compares? Probly too thick or different.

Howdy! I'm in the process of "refreshing" my 72 (series II) and am in somewhat of a quandary. The gas door on my car was replaced at some point by the previous owner (obvious color mismatch) and simply has a finger indent that it is pulled open by. As far as i can tell this is one of three different gas doors made for the Z and i can't find a solid reference as to which is correct for my car. I searched "gas door" and the only real concrete thing i could find was that 70-71's definitely had the lock. The only reference Wick Humble provides in his book is that "early Z's" had the lock or latch. Whether he means 240's in general or just series 1 240's is a little unclear. A…

Just wanted to post a few shots of my grills after I refurbed them. Lots of blasting, straightening and careful re-assembly, but they are looking much better. Cat:beard:

I'm having trouble putting the tail light surrounds back in, the three piece assembly. I have to drill holes for the left and right parts, but I can't figure out how the middle piece fits in. Can somebody explain it to me or post pictures? Thank you. THIS IS ACTUALLY PRETTY URGENT.

Hi all, I've just been posed the question if the Fuel Filler was designed with a churn type filler in mind? It's the first I've heard of, however, given the size of the filler door and cap, it appears quite plausible. MOM

http://www.newgel.com.au/datsun.htm I have the rear spoiler shown in the above link's pictures, It does not have any designated bolt holes, What i was thinking of doing was attaching it with 2 bolts at either end and using some water based polyurethane all around it, That should hold it right?

I'd appreciate some feedback. I've finished the welding & grinding and have painted the shell of my 240Z, this includes the wheel-wells per the attached picture. I realize this is the way it came from the factory but I'm tempted to paint the wheel-wells black. It seems it would make the appearance a little nicer not being able to see all that white. I've searched for pictures trying to see what difference it would make but haven't been able to find many that helps with the decision. Would it look ugly/goofy being all white? For those that have made this decision or have an opinion? Which way did you go and were you happy with the results of your decision. I'm …

I'm putting the bumpers off of my '82 280zx parts car on my '79. When I took the rear bumper off, the four bolts were pretty rusted up, so I took it off with the shock brackets attached, figuring I could clean the bolts up with a dremel wire wheel. I cleaned them, but it didn't help much, and I sprayed them several times with pb blaster, but I still broke off four of the 8 bolts. I thought about drilling a hole behind each bolt to get access to them, but I figured I should ask the experts first. Is there and good way to replace these bolts? The rest of the bumper is in very good shape, so I hate to scrap it. My '79 ones are shot, but the shock mounts are real nice. The m…

It's nearing the time where I am going to start prep on the Z for body and paint work. I've collected all of the pieces I need to start on the project, I just need to get the radiator support panel straightened before I start bolting everything on and jumping head on into the project. So, while I'm preparing the Z for paint, I figure that the smart idea would be to fix the rust problems that my Z has. Luckily, since she's a California Z the only rust she has is under the battery tray, passenger side lower fender (next to door), driver's side floorboard, rear hatch area above right side taillight and then a little bit of bubbling on the rear doglegs, but it looks pretty …
