I was watching Speed the other day and saw an add for Dupli-Color Car Art http://duplicolor.com/products/carart.html The stuff is supposed to be a temporary spray paint for making designs on your car. It would be a great way for people to test out how a pattern or strip will look on thier car without the problems of having it be final. I have never used this stuff, so I don't know how it works, but I plan on trying it out when I test a hood accent and then a small side stripe design I have for my car. Anyone else have experince (good or bad) with this stuff?

The picture says it all. This is what happens when you can "almost" stop behind a 1991 Pontiac Transport Minivan. Long story involving a cop approaching the cross street of a major, somewhat blind intersection with the red his way, turning on the siren as he approached, the van panicing and stopping dead in the middle of the intersection, and an oily approach to the intersection (major intersection with hundreds of cars a day sitting there waiting for the light...) letting me slide about 100 feet from only 30 mph. I probably hit him at less than 10 mph, but went under his bumper. Four nice tire skid marks showing my path through the oil...at least I know all four bra…

Hi there, I was speaking to someone I'd believe had fair credibility on the matter and he told me that sandblasting steel that is under stress such as a bike frame or steel monocoque car shell can have the effect of "work hardening" the steel making it brittle and pron to cracking. He suggested that in race car preparation it is not a common practic for this reason. What is peoples thoughts on this? I've had plans to sandblast the underside of my 240 but have decided to buy some paint stripper this morning and give that a go as a first option.

I have searched the archives and looked around but can't find any information on what is the best way to wet sand and buff/polish a car after it's been painted. I painted my car in the garage, so there are some sections of orange peel and some small bugs stuck in the clear coat and need to finish off the painting process to make my car really shine. I have a nice heavy duty professional buffer to help with the whole process. Any good links out there?

That's what those two odd screws are for on the left side of the front bumper, except mine are rusted and the slot in the head doesn't look too strong. So since you are required to have a license plate on the front in my state, I'll probably need the plate frame too. Except the parts CD doesn't show a good picture of the front license plate frame. thx.

What's the best way to mask off a door, when you've masked one side from the inside, but if you mask the other side from the inside, you're stuck inside, haha. Any ideas? I need to know pretty quick guys.

If anyone has a junk 280Z body sitting around that they don't mind hacking a piece off of, I could use the front of the left (drivers side) "fender extension" part of the unibody from as close to the rad support forward as possible. Circled area in pic. If you have such a piece, PM me. Thanks.

I recently replaced my door latch (which needed to be done anyway) but it failed solve my door rattle problem. I've read Enrique's door article and I feel like I understand it. The problem is the striker plate on my car has almost no adjustablity. For some reason the holes are not elongated. But then I remembered that the car came with new uninstalled weather stripping for the doors. It looks right for the application but seems really thick. The door fits in the opening properly, and it doesn't rattle anymore... but it takes 2 hands to close the door which is totally unacceptable. I don't want to buy new weather stripping only to find out I already have the right s…

I thought I'd post another restore-thread. I was taking a break after scraping undercoating off the trans tunnel and I thought I would get out the bag-o-emblems I have. I was reading an earlier post on how to restore emblems, (I dont wanna put the guy 'on the spot' again) . After reading it I went and got some supplies and thought I'd give it a try. I used the following items, and the total was about $30.00 CAD. Tamiya Color for plastics R/C spray in Semi-Gloss black. Liquid Masking Film Spot sanding pen hobby knife Tamiya Acrylic paint for R/C's (white) some plastic Q-Tips. I tried to find Pactra paints but theres limited supplies. Either Canada is getting Tes…

Hey i'm planning to paint my 240 some shade of orange and I really want to put racing stripes on it but I'm afraid it will look ridiculous if i do black stripes. If anyone has any pictures or tips for me please respond. If you have an idea of another color that would look good with the orange please respond.
