I tried using search but nothing came up. Has anybody blacked out their tail lights and have a picture of it? Or does anybody know HOW to do it. I've been toying with the idea because I'm blacking out my chrome and going for a really clean look (no emblems etc.). - Ian.

Here is something I found interesting, and thought you guys might too. It is a "shade tree test" of whether to use filler over or under epoxy primer. The one real reason I held for using filler over epoxy primer was to seal out any water that might get into the filler from wet sanding. If the filler is not on the bare steel, the water it could hold would not be either...I realy had not considered adhesion as a consergn. Anyway...I am anticipating some good replies... here is the direct link, http://www.autobodystore.com/filler_&_epoxy.htm Here is first part of the blurb-if it all makes it-the second part will immediatly follow in the next post. <TABLE style=…

I need to replace my door latch mechanism and the manual says I need to remove the window sash which means removing the window. I can see that the mechanism is buried behind the window sash/track, but I really don't want to remove the window and sash if I don't have to. I think I know my fate, but I'm hoping someone has succeded in sliding the mechanism behind that track by loosening up the sash and getting really lucky. Normally I wouldn't care about removing a window but the whole door is skinned with sound proofing which I am now having to cut through and everything is in A+ condition appearance wise. I'll flip if I scratch the window. It's ok to lie to me. Thanks, …

hey all, this is a pic of the fender of my current project. this is by far the worst area of the body. given the rest of the car's condition and the need for mechanical restoration, i want to try to seal this off to prevent further rust damage. it was obviously a bad repair from a bad hit. the good news is that i don't have to deal with a lot of rain in my area, it's probably been like this for at least 10 years. i know that sealing it will not improve the cosmetics of the damage but i would like to stop it from progressing. anybody have any suggestions?

The paint on my car is kinda weird. The hood is nice and shiny/smooth, but the fenders feel rough. I tried to rub them out with #1 rubbing compound ( by hand) 2 or 3 times so far and it still feels rough. I lose major points at shows because of that. The rest of the car is nice (smooth/shiney), except for a few odd scratches. I also have access to a buffer. Ideas? I'd just like to touch things up some. I'm not looking for $20,000 show-car quallity.

I have a 510 project, I'm hoping that by the end of the summer i can have it painted and running. It is basically a shell right now. Anyway the previous owner spayed the engine bay with rattle-can primer and didn't prep it before. The primer comes off easily in many areas. I figure i should paint the engine bay while i have the chance but I need to remove this primer. I was thinking of bringing it to a sandblasting place but then thought that the cost would probably be similar to that of a cheap sandblaster and material. How well do these cheap (sub $100) work? Is it worth the money? Thanks.

So--it finally happened. Someone sideswiped my Z in a parking lot and drove off without a word, note, or anything. Nice thing to come out from my break at work to find. My question is--are any of you local to the Seattle area and have a body shop that you would recommend? The jerk managed to destroy the rear side markerlight, and I'd like to find a shop that will actually look for the right piece rather than telling me that there's no way they can find a 34 year old markerlight. Not to mention that the dent will need to be smoothed out by someone who knows what it's supposed to look like. Thanks in advance for any leads you can give me. Chris

I live in New Mexico and cannot seem to find a decent body/paint shop.I would like to avoid bondo and use body solder but the only one I found quoted me 15-20 THOUSAND! with me stripping the car. It is a '71 with very little to do on it body wise. My question is does anyone know of a good shop either in New Mexico or Arizona? I would even be willing to trailer it to Texas. Any help is greatly appreciated. Best, H Houghton

Hey anyone on here that has a front 240z '73 bumper that is in good condition please contact me soon. If it has the bumper bars that is great but they are not necessary. Thanks, samzhot240

I was wondering if anyone tried putting t-tops on a 280zx that doesn't have them origionally. I noticed on my 1979 280zx that the openings are stamped into the roof under the headliner. Would it be better to cut the holes out, or cut the whole roof off and put the whole t-top roof on? I have a parts car with all the interior parts I would need. Any info would be appreciated. THANKS
