I am preping my 77Z for a new paint job and in the process of sanding I have cut through the original paint and exposed bare metal in some places. What should I do to protect the bare metal from rusting. It will go to the paint shop in about a month for a Base Coat/ Clear Coat paint job. It is stored inside my garage. Thanks

Has anyone used a product called Zoop that is a final top coat/sealant for mag/al wheels? I've seen it advertized in Grout's and Eastwood for about $140. Before I spent that much I'd like to hear from someone with real life experience using the product.

I am looking for a right air intake in new condition. I am speaking about the elbow plastic intake located in the engine bay connecting from the radiator support and inner fender. Doesn't seems that they are reproduced.

I found another "Rust Neutralizer" called "Rust Mortar" from SEM. It netralizes rust and leaves a Zinc Oxide type finish. Similar to Metal Ready from POR15. It has the same active ingedients as Metal Ready. It is relatively inexpensive and can be purchased from you local SEM dealer. However, I am not sure how good it is since I have not heard of anyone else using the product. I am planning to liberally spray it into unreachable areas such as the door sill, inside the lower fender wells, inside bottom of the doors, and the cowl area. It seems to do a good job neutralizing surface rust and is supposed to prevent rust. Anyone have any experience with this product?

Hey Guys, I have repainted my doors, fenders hood and front parts and now I'm getting ready to do the back half/roof area. My question is the car was treated by Ziebart in 1975, they did a great job because theres very little rust in the car. The problem is all the little 3/8 holes in the jambs and the back hatch area. Should I just buy some plugs and not worry about it or try to patch them up. I dont want to cause any problems by welding patches, and I think I will have a hard time since the "Gooey Mix" is everywhere, and might foul up the weld. All the holes are in blind areas. There are 8 holes in the rear hatch area alone. I'm not going to show the car, I just wan…

Hey Guys, I just had my '73 repainted back to the original Orange. I painted the fenders & doors and all of the other parts off the car. My question is where do all the rubber pieces for the inspection lids go? All the rubber was gone from the front of the car except the cowl piece. I just want to do this right. I have looked through the Gallery and cant seem to find a shot showing what I need. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Doug

Well. I just recently got my hands on a 71 240z. It appears that the car use to be orange. But unfortunately someone removed the paint sticker on the radiator support and painted the entire engine bay black. The paint sticker has been removed. Looking at the engine bay there are some places where the black paint is pealing and I can see a significant amounts of orange(ie firewall). I also looked under the dash and found orange painted there as well(nothing has been painted there). The floor boards in the car(was left of them) are orange and the jack storage location is orange. The lid. Any other way that I can be determine if it was original orange or not. Thanks.

Hey guys, Was cleaning the car today and took off the door sills and the passenger side found this.... Holes weren't there until I touched the spots with a screwdriver. Checked the floors and they are still good. This isn't a spot that needs to be replaced is it? What are some fixes i can do? I have never had to deal with rust before. Thanks guys, I'll be searching the forums in the time being as well.

Got the grill and am in the process of trying to shoehorn it into place. I know some slight "mods" need to be done but am curious what anyone else who's got a grill in a later 240 did to get it in there.

I checked both the FSM and my Haynes... neither gave a good basic dimension to set the hood spring/pin at such that the hood shuts nicely when you close it... I spent 45min adjusting it in and then back out again with no improvements whatsoever... Can someone who's hood does close nicely give me that basic dimension? At least then I will know if I am way off or what... Thanks, -e
