If your car was nowhere near stock body wise or any other way and wanted something different and had the ability to do it yourself?? My 240 is so far from stock it will never go back, and that started a long time ago, being the second owner since 79 or so... I'm getting close to paint and I can't decide. I want something that will stand out and say HEY! But things like shadow flames, color changing paint, and all of the modern stuff seems so over done anymore, it's everywhere... I am picking up an 81 280ZX in early August for a potential street beater. The clear coat over the black finish has oxidized (disappeared) on the top surfaces (roof, hatch, hood and fenders) of the car. Rather than repainting the car immediately, I thought I would rub the entire car down with a finish prep, like car skin. Then lightly sand the edge areas of the clear coat with a 400 or 600 grit sand paper. Lastly, have the clearcoat reapplied. Any thoughts on whether this would restore the finish on the car? Opinions appreciated. Thanks,

I had this door for several years and it's a new factory never installed door. I belive its for a 2+2 but I am unsure if its for a 280zx or 300zx any help would be appreciated. thanks. The first photo with the meausring tape measures 51"

As some of u know my car WAS off to paint shop. After some incidents with the paint guy i decided i'd prep the car my self for being sent to paint. There is rust but i have a freand who is good at welding. My question is this: What process(es) Have you guys did to get ur zs original paint off. What send paper? Wet or dry? How long did it take. I need every deatail please. I really no nothing of body and paint, so this will be my first time. PLease tell me how to strip me cars paint!!!! My goals: Have the cars body (no paint at all) showing. Rust will be delt eith also but any advice on how to deal with rust is good too. I was thinking of cutting the rust out and weldi…

I got hit with penaties last weekend at a show because my taillight panel didn't have rivets (regular interior rivets) along the top? I saw one car with rivets there, but mine had button-head screws. Which is correct? thx

Does anyone know how much the body shell weighs with everything removed: interior, doors, fenders, engine, drive train, suspension, etc. Curious how heavy it is for transporting on a trailer and building a rotisserie to hold it. Thanks, Terry

I just bought an airdam from MSA and a rear wing, It's going to the paint shop this weekend. What do you guys think? Also, i'm curious if anyone else has this same airdam on there car? The only way to mount it are these two plastic peices on the very top of the air dam. No exactly in a hurry to mount $350.00 by two plastic peices. How did you support your airdam from the bottom? I'm worried that at high speeds if not supported it mmight snap and i'll run it over. Long story short my neighbor up the street stopped by when I was sanding the front end of the Z32. Seems he has a body shop in town which I didn't know.The other day he stopped by to give some pointers( I was having trouble) and offered to show me how to paint the correct way as opposed to what I was doing :stupid: so when I repaint the 77 I'll know how this time. So tomorrow after work he wants me to bring it to the shop and paint it in his booth :love:The prep work is all done. My ? is what would it cost to have this done ? And what would be a reasonable amount to give him for his trouble ?

Well i started distruction on the Z today. Taking the front right hand fender off so i could start cutting out the old frame rail. After i got it pulled apart i discovered alot of crash damage. The rail that the upper shock gose into. Just behind the tower is bent pretty badly. Somebody made a atempt at fixing it. It was cut and welded but the weld is cracking badly. This isnt a teribly bad thing im cutting the whole section out due to rust anyways. But it scares me. I hope the main part of the frame aint warped or something. Evan with the old sterring parts i changed it still drove straight. And hasnt warn the tires badly. But I might be in deeper trouble then i though…
