I have out my back right quarter window on 240z. i bought all new weatherstrippings and put them on. Now it is Tight.... i am mean too tight. I have the weatherstripping on right and solidly. However, even with me pushing the window in with everything i have it still will not line up with the holes. I compared the weatherstripping with the OEM on my left side and its definitely thicker. Anyone else run into this issue?

I know here I go again - worrying about chipping paint. I am in the process of putting a door back on our project. The door is mounted and I just finished installing the window regulator and glass. Across the top of the door there is a piece of molding, chrome on one side fuzzy on the side facing the glass. It is press fitted onto the door edge. Is there some method of protecting the paint while installing the molding? Would applying tape to the edge before fitting the molding over it help? Is there a special tool to spread the molding while applying it to the door? Thanks in advance.

All right, been looking around, and no definite answers on bracing to R and R from frame rails. Are there any worries on frame twisting? Upper and lower radiator supports are solid.

I’m trying to adjust the passenger side hinges on my 73Z. The door is hard to close and the gaps don’t match. In the 73, the hinges are still threaded, which is awesome, because I didn’t want to take the fender off. Unfortunately, there are a slew of relays and connections mounted to/through the fiber board interior panel. I’m down to one screw, but am not contortionist enough to get it out. Has anyone done this before? Do I need to take the dash out? Thanks!

I bought a 280z to restore, but lack knowledge on how to do the paint and protect the Z from rust. I'm starting with both the front fenders on that condition. My idea was to sand until bare metal and prime it for the time being. Although im not sure of correct way to do it taking whatever is on there is being and im considering paint stripper although i don't know what layers are on there. What would be the best way to do it?

I have looked through hundreds of pics online of 280z cars and late model 260z. Not one of them I can see has this seal on. My car is a 12/74 260z and it had it (note the first pic below). Did most people remove these or if during a repaint they just kept them off? Should I just keep it off? What was the reason for adding? Any insight would be appreciated. It looks like Vintage Rubber is the only place to buy from. Mine just went through paint so that is why the question came up.

I am in the midst of re-assembly of the bucket a 1973 240z. I just mounted a door and started cleaning up parts to be installed on/in it. Here is a picture of the backside of the exterior door handle. There are 2 square rubber seals that are mounted to the handle to prevent water from entering the interior of the door. I would rate mine at about a 6 out of 10. I think I may have found a place to get some but I am not sure that I want to go to the effort of taking the handle mechanism apart to install them. Any tip/experience would be appreciated. Also, as you are aware there is a metal bracket that spans the two square holes in the door. This bracket…

Klassic Fab has been manufacturing quality VW Bus floor replacements for years and has recently started manufacturing floor pans and frame rails, etc for 240Zs and for other vintage Japanese cars. Here's their website: https://kfvintagejdm.com/ Pictures courtesy of The 240z Guild.

My 72 240Z must have dealer installed undercoating in the wheel wells. I'm not sure if they did this at the factory. I am (my Dad) the original owner. Can this undercoating in the wheel wells be effectively painted? I don't want to remove it and it makes no sense to put more undercoating or bed liner on top of it. I'm wondering if paint will adhere and not flake off easily, or would this be a waste of time? Any suggestions for what to use, or just leave it?

I'm working on a 73 240Z and in the need for some decent fenders. I was considering buying them from Zcar Depot but notice that the ones they sell have a warning that they may not be exact replacement and may need some modifications. I was wondering if anyone has purchased these and how much "modification" was needed to get them to fit properly. I'd hate to pay the price and all the high shipping cost and find out they look like hell wen I get done. On a related note, if anyone has a decent set (or just the L or R) of used ones they'd like to sell, I'd be interested. Thanks Paul

I need help because i cant find any information on what the interior should be painted or coated with. The last owner redid the floor panels and now they look like this. Should I keep that black coat? Is painting the interior the same process as the exterior or what products am i supposed to use? There is no rust that i can see under the car.
