I thought I'd pass this on for those looking for a fender in the future. I found in my working towards a repaint that some work I had done to a fender (left front) 20 years ago was coming undone and with further investigation I found was not done well to begin with. Since I live in Indiana spare parts for a 73 have to come from far away as there are no "Datsuns" in the junkyards around here, sometimes if you get someone young enough behind the counter they may have never heard of a Datsun, I digress... Anyway I decided I wanted to replace the fender, VB and the rest were killing me with the price and shipping... I happend to be looking at some paint at a local place and…

First time here as a member I live in west los angeles. I just got two quotes for body work on my 1973 240z. The original color of the car is Datsun color code 115. It was repainted in red by the P.O. The car has a scratch like dent on the passenger door ( not deep at all) one ding on the rear tailight panel and one ding on the left corner edge of the hood. Two rust bubbles (2mm in diameter) on the windshield cowl cover, thats it for rust. I love red 240Z's but the P.O replaced the dash with a crack free one and the engine compartment and wheel wheels are still looking good with the original blue metallic paint so I decided to go original. The interior is white ( aka be…

Anyone have a paint code 510 Blue 280Z? I think it was '77-'78 only. I picked this up on zcar.com and would like to see if there are any out there who can confirm. I'd like to add it to my paint codes gallery. Thanks for the help: Michael

I'm so proud of this valve cover... hehe spent hours and hours on it.. I used aircraft stripper and a toothbrush on the inside of the valve cover.. and it looks spotless... just in case any flakes of hardened oil and varnish breaks off and damages my baby!!

First of all hello everyone! I recently got my hands on a 1973 240Z, I knew from the get go that this car would be a hanfull of opwrk simply because the car had not been started for a bit over a year, and it was sitting in someone's backyard in Bellville Texas (between Austin and Houston) Well, I got the car for $500.00 and drove out to the country to pick it up, after a day's worth of trouble shooting (draining and cleaning the gas tank, checking the lines, fuel filter, pump, and messing with those funny hitachi carbs We got it running, nothing has been replaced yet only the gas. checked for oil, fluids but decided top wait until the holiday to drive it home (less traffi…

So i really need some advice. 1: Their is a huge hole in my driver's side floor pan, plus a small one behind it, what tool should i use to cut the rust out? after that i'll grind the rest of the rust off, then what type of chemical do i use? then weld metal on, then what do i do after that? some type of liner? 2: my carpet has dry rot and rust on it, i really dont want to pay over $150 American and have it shipped to me, what else can i do? 3: my left rear 1/4 is very bad, as well as the right side one, what are some practicall solutions? 4: my passenger floor pan is flaking like a b…

Hi I looked at a 240z today. Its got a fuel injected L28 but without the wiring finished. Automatic transmission, new interior (2 really), new weather striping etc and a bunch of extra parts for the inside. Any way the framerails at the front where the curve up are perfect but on the passangers side the floor is rusty in the center and about 18" or so of the framerail in the same area. The other side is perfect. Also the querterpanels behind each door. But thats about it. The hatch and the part of on the back around it is fine. The spare tire wheel well looked fine. A little rust on the battery tray but thats about it. On the outside its primired with just a little surfac…

Ok first my car orginal color is that leaf green #302 not a fan of the color. but the owner put a black over it. the thing about this black is that it goes all over your hands when u rub on it. im thinking of going to #907 Dark Green(its a sexy color) i read that your orginal paint is a good primer because it is stuck to the metal. if this is true how could i get the black color off with out taken off the leaf green. im thinking with going over a lighter color with a dark color might do better or am i just fooling myself? the black paint was definantely half arse. or just do the chemical stripper and go to metal?
