I'm starting a new thread from the ash tray thread. The topic drifted from ash trays to console face plates to heated rear hatch glass. I am looking for the plug that fills the console plate area for the rear glass demister switch and we got into a conversation about the model types that were delivered without heated glass. Hi Alan, Happy Holidays The whole idea of which Japanese model was used as a basis for the American HLS30U model fits into this conversation, indeed. There are a number of peculiar fitment examples, both pro and con, for the conversation. Initially, the first American import 240Zs did not have rear window demisters. My shipping bill does not list…

My fuel flap lock doesnt work with my key. And further more even if my key did work the "crank" bit of the back of the lock wouldnt engage the latch on the car- It looks like some one has put a door lock into it! My q is: I'm getting this lock changed by a locksmith so it will fit my key BUT if i put a fuel flap crank on the lock will it work as normal- even if it is a door lock?(ie is the lock bit the same?)

I am going to be repainting my 260z and i thought that this would make it the best time to install the MSA rear fender flares I had my eye on. I was thinking I could screw them into the fender wells with self taping screws o bolt them if i felt like doing more work. Or I could use a high qualitly 3m double sided tape or epoxy compound. If anyone has installed the MSA "mild street" fender flares please respond- how easy way it? Was Bondo required to blend them? What did you use to adhere them to the body? Thanks in advance. Dave

I need some help on the above subject. My car is concours and never been restored. Last week I saw that the left front part of the hood is about 1/4" above the headlight housing. When I look at the hinges, nothing is different than before and everything fits fine all the way through the cowl. I try to figure what is going wrong and I really cannot find nothing at the exeption of one. When I push on the hood close to the headlamp it goes down with this play of about 1/4". The right side is very thight with no play at all. Is somebody ca suggest me what to look at to fix the problem? Can it be one of the tension rods? Richard

Hello i finally got a all day to work on my car and boy was it a job. Or better words still a job. I really dont care i am having a blast toying with the car. I have a 1974 260z. I took off the rear bumper and my question is how do u get those T members off.(the things that bolt on the bumper from the rear) Do they unscrew off or do i need to take the gas tank off and unbolt them off. I just need some help before i do something stupid :tapemouth . the only real problem i had today was some rusty strip screws i had to get out. They were on the center console in the far back. The 3 of them where a bi0tch to get off. I guess the owner strip the hell out of them and just forg…

I was curious if it would be possible to graft a front end from an early Z onto my 280ZX? I'm probably going to try it one way or another but I thought I should check and see if anyone had already tried it. Most likely I'll get the subtle Z fenders, hood, and air dam that should give me most of the parts. Is there anything else you would recommend that I look into? Thanks in advance.

Hello how would you go about fixing a top that is a little wavy. It had been bondoed in the past and now has a crack. Would fiber reinforced bondo on top with maybe even a couple of strips of steel underneath work? Whats the best way to fix this?

I was checking the battery tray and I figured it would be rusted, the tray is actually not that bad, but theres rust on the wheel well and rusted through(I actually pressed on it and more broke off)... Does anyone know how expensive this would be to fix (an average estimate) I appreciate guys!

I think I hinted enough (including web addresses for ordering) that I'm getting new bullet mirrors for my '71 240. I want to put them on the fenders as I've seen all over te web but does anybody know exactly where to locate them? I know non-US models had fender mount and I would like to place them as much in the right place as possible. Thanks, John
