Okay, serious thread this time (Racoon Killer). I got the air cleaner decals from Mike at Banzai Motorworks. Put them on a freshly painted air cleaner(1972). My question is, anyone know of a topcoat/sealer I can put over the decals to protect them. The two small white decals are very papery(sic) and the silver carb adjust sticker is printed on a foil like backing. I thought about artist shellac but I dont know if it will withstand the heat of the engine bay. Any thoughts folks? Thanks in advance. Chris

Has anyone used or seen a Z painted with Dupont Imron paint. From my reading there are one part and a two part (color and clear coat) versions of this paint. I've been told it is very tough, in fact it is even used on boats. I've also been told it buffs up very well. I'm interested in long term experience with this paint on the car. Thanks.

Hi all, Now maybe you folks know all about this, so I apologize if this is common knowledge. But just in case it might prove useful, I'll post this. I decided to trial install a BRE "Spock" front spoiler I bought from MSA. I wanted to check the fit and drill necesary holes prior to painting it. I mounted it up and held it in place with a couple of C-clamps and then looked it over, checking for alignment and contemplating where to drill mounting hole in the frame, valence, etc. I wasn't too keen on the idea of drilling holes in the valence and only maginaly more trilled with driling holes in the frame or the lower radiator support. I crawled under the car, now on a …

I went to go look at a 240z today just north of pittsburgh (FINALLY!) and it seems quite nice. the floor pans have been replaced and there is very minor rust on the rocker pannels. There was just one thing that concerned me, there are some cracks on the "B" pillar of the car. They seem to be slightly deeper than the pant, but not much so, and there is no rust around them. The current owner said that they were there since he purchased the car in 1981. Could this be stress from the frame? I am looking to buy the car soon, so please respond! thanks, dan

I have a 1973 240Z with very mild amounts rust, the car spent almost its entire life in Texas. Although it does have the common rust in the front fender and cowel, and also in the floorboard. This winter I wanted to being bodywork and have the car painted, just have it undriveable the whole winter. I wanted to do the bodywork my self and take my time using a modern filler and do the best job I can, note that the body work is minor and in small portions. I also wanted to do the prep work for the paint job myself, as in disassemly, sanding and possibly priming. Then I wanted to take the car to a professional to have the final coat put on. But then I would have to put transp…

Well I finally got the courage and the money to buy the MSA Aero Kit that includes the front and rear bumber replacement and side skirts. Anyone that has ever ordered one of these kits will tell you they need some tweeking before you can install them. I was wondering if anyone has any tricks or advice on how to trim and install them. I am especially interested in which adhesive and which method would be best to bond them to the metal? Also what could you use to blend the edges of the fiberglass to the body so that it looks like one piece and something that's not going to crack. Thanks in advance for your advice! EZ

I am a shop teacher and welder by trade. I am considering subitting my 73' 240Z to my class as a shop project, but have never tackled an autobody project until now. I have a 73' 240Z which requires new rockers, and both rear quarter patches. My question's for the rockers are: Plug welding vs seam welding the entire rocker?, The best way to seal the metal in behind the rocker (weldable paint, ect)?, Things to take in to consideration when cutting out the rear quarter patches, gas tank, ect.? I should think I have the neccessary tools, I just need a little orientation. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
