The time has come for me to strip and re-paint the my brake booster (the one on the firewall). I was wondering what to do about the decal. If I remove it with a heat gun will it go back with no problems? I don't want to mask it off cuz that just looks tacky. Has anyone removed a decal and reapplied it? Any suggestions? Thanks

POR-15 Tip

I just spent a few hours doing the preparation work for using the POR15 floorpan restoration kit. I did the marine clean and rinsed. It seemed weird running a garden hose on the inside my car. I got most of the water out with a rag and let the closed car sit in the sun for an hour or so. I then did the metal ready step and let it properly stay wet for 30 minutes or so before again rinsing thoroughly. I started to dry it out the same way (POR15 recommends using a hair dryer) and suddenly thought of the wet-dry vacuum I'd been using to get the loose debris out. It gets the water out quickly and even pulls it out of the gaps between the seat support and the floorpan.

Hi all, Now in full swing in stripping the zed. Finding little spots of surface rust that I will need to pay attention to. I'm killing the rust as I go but I need to paint it with something. Being a complete novice at any painting, what type of primer do I use?

Does anyone know of a source for the "tune-up" decal for my '73 240? Or maybe a method of salvaging the original while I'm doing my complete re-paint?

I've had my 79 280zx since 1990. It was imported into New Zealand (2nd Hand) ex Japan approx1987. I've always tried to keep it clean, straight and original. I'm lookingfor a right front guard (new or near new) and the same for front air dam and grill. Ideally in New Zeland or Aussie but will consider further a field if freight costs are ok. When I bought mine in 1990 it had extremely gay pink and black stripes plastered down both sides. does anyone know the original pin stipes I think they were a green and maroon pin stripe. http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=50-1439&Category_Code=7AD2 So what do you all think of the new "Type 3" air dam from msa? i think it is cool but i wish the bumper portion was optional, i like the open look better. for my car its down to that or the Kaminari 3 port. if any one has a pic of the 3 port on a car please post it because i would like to see a better picture (its late and i cant sleep so i thought i would post) :stupid:
