Ok, Please give me input ... remember this is just an Idea... :beard: the areas that will rust the most(?) are the inside of the box sections in the car. (ok, not true, but this is the thought that got me thinking)... Why don't you cut it open, weld in a few supports and weld it all shut except a small hole where you weld in a threaded nut(?) or something....then paint the inside with a small spray tool (not thought through very well, but im trying!) then put a valve in the threaded area (small valve, for cosmetics) and evacuate the area of air (the reason for the supports is becuase of outside airpressure) to hopefully prevent oxidation....at least if it does rust thr…

Hi all, Embolden by the results I got on the BRE spoiler I did last week, I'm considering tackling some other areas on my car. Most of the issues are paint chips, but I do have some "checkering" on the driver door and the hatch while presentable, could stand a smoother layer of paint. I don't really want to use a "real" paint gun and compressor as I don't have the room in the garage for the equipment nor the ability to set up a "paint booth". So I'm wondering if one can get good results with an airbrush and small compressor for chip repair, small touch-up (where feathering would be required.), and small body panel painting. What I'm looking for is better flow cont…

Ok, I'm Working on my master plan. So when they dip your car I hear that it removes everything including the areas you can't get to again.... I also heard that after its dipped they apply zinc phosphate to stop rust before you paint... Guess I was wondering how long you can leave it Unpainted with the zinc phosphate applied? (assuming that its covering metal that you can't get in to paint) OR Is there a method similar to Iodizing (putting color between the molecules of metal...Probably used the wrong word) ANYWAY, is there a method like dipping(or iodizing) that keeps the rust from forming (once again because after dipping I'm told there are areas you can't get to aga…

Hi guys, i am pusher's friend. I have a 95 240sx and a 85 300zx. I am looking to do an exterior color change on my 240sx and i have quite a few questions. You guys seem pretty knowledgable on the subject so i thought id ask here. The car is currently a factory blue/green 'chamelionesque' color, which i believe is called emerald pearl. One of my fenders is factory black. The car still has full factory clear coat. Before i paint, i will be replacing the front bumper cover, adding sideskirts, and rear bumper valences. These pieces will come professionally primered so i dont have to worry about prepping thoes pieces. All the rest of the body will need to be prepped. I plan …

Hi all, My Christmas gift that my wife gave me finally came in from MSA; a BRE front spoiler. So I'm wondering what is the best way to prep, paint, and fit it. I've never dealt with fiberglass body parts so this is completely new to me. I'm assuming that I'll want to trail fit it first and drill the necesary hole first before prep and paint but, that's about as much as I know. I do have the "240Z tune-up" video from Ztherapy and I believe in the later half he discusses fiberglass body panels but I've yet to get that far in the video. Any suggestions? Best Regards, Landmizzle '…

as you guys may have known I was in an accident and my rear quarter panel is well... pretty F*****. So I was looking for my options.. I can *Hammer and Hammer it out and fill in the rest with body filler *Cut out the old quarter panel and weld in a new one. ($700 for a new panel plus the cutting and welding) *Buy a fiberglass panel and bond it on! ($125 for a new panel) However I had a question about getting a fiberglass rear panel. Here is what the website mentioned... ----------------------------------------------------- Looks original - This panel is designed to be bonded over the existing steel panel. This method offers an easier and inexpensive way to…
